In the movie Speed, a bus already moving faster than 55 mph will explode if the bus’ speed falls below 55 mph. Let say that the

bus is already moving at 80 mph when Sandra Bullock (the bus driver) passes out and her foot falls off the accelerator. 30.0 seconds later, the bus explodes. How far did the bus move after our girl Sandy passed out? Please answer in meters!

Answer:

The bus moved after our girl Sandy passed out = S = 905.04 m

Explanation:

At  t = 0 sec              Vi = 80mph = 35.76 m/s

    t = 30 sec             Vf = 55mph = 24.58 m/s

According to the first equation of motion

                   Vf = Vi + at

        24.587 = 35.76 + a(30)

        a  =  - 0.373 m/s2 (negative sign shows deceleration)

Now for distance travelled in 30 sec we have

second equation of motion

                  S=Vit+1/2at2

        S = 35.76 x 30 + 1/2 x -0.373 x 30 x 30

         S = 905.04 m

denis-greek [22]

Answer:

  v = 54.2 m / s

Explanation:

Let's use energy conservation for this problem.

Starting point Higher

         Em₀ = U = m g h

Final point. Lower

        Em_{f} = K = ½ m v²

        Em₀ = Em_{f}

        m g h = ½ m v²

         v² = 2gh

         v = √ 2gh

Let's calculate

         v = √ (2 9.8 150)

         v = 54.2 m / s

GETTING TIMED PLS HELP! Do the runners in the picture above represent kinetic or potential energy? you need to explain why.
prohojiy [21]

Answer:

They represent kinetic energy

Explanation:

Kinetic Energy

A body can do work due to some of its attributes or states. For example, its mass can do work if used to provide energy, if the object is at a certain height respect to some reference level, it can do work when going downwards (potential energy), if the object moves at a certain speed, it can do work when transferring part of its speed to other objects. It's called kinetic energy and is given by

\displaystyle K=\frac{mv^2}{2}

Both runners are moving in a horizontal path, thus they have kinetic energy, given by the above equation. If they could jump below ground level, then they will also have potential energy

Calculate the root mean square velocity of nitrogen molecules at 25 C.
iragen [17]
root mean square= square root of ( 3RT/M)

R = 8.314 J/K/mole
T = 25 + 273 = 298 K
M = molecular mas of N2 in kg = 28 X 10^-3 kg

put values...

root mean square = square root of ( 3 X 8.314 X 298/28 X 10^-3)
= square root of ( 265454.143)
= 515.2 m/s
so option A is right

A 0.25 kg arrow with a velocity of 12 m/s to the west strikes and pierces the center of a 6.8 kg target. What is the final veloc
Mademuasel [1]

Answer:20/47 meter per second

Explanation:

Mass of arrow(ma)=0.25kg

Velocity of arrow(va)=12m/s

Mass of target(mt)=6.8kg

Velocity of target(vt)=0 since target is at rest

Conservation of linear momentum says that :

maxva+mtxvt=(ma+mt)V

V=(maxva+mtxvt)/(ma+mt)

V=(0.25x12+6.8x0)/(0.25+6.8)

V=3/(7.05)

V=20/47 meter per second
