The problem gives us the value for the initial velocity of the race car, and the time it takes for the race car to come to a complete stop. The question however, proves to be tricky. The question states as follow: "what is the acceleration of the car after 12.0 seconds?" Since it was already established that the car has come to a halt in 12.0 seconds, therefore, the acceleration would have to be 0, as the car would not be moving at all.

A car is moving at 6 m/s and then accelerates at 1.7 m/s2 for 4.2 seconds. What is the final velocity of the car?
Bad White [126]

Explanation:

Hey there!!

Here,

Initial velocity (u) = 6m/s.

Acceleration (a) = 1.7m/s^2.

Time (t) = 4.2s.

final velocity (v) = ?

We have,

a =  \frac{v - u}{t}

Putting their values,

1.7 =  \frac{v - 6}{4.2}

7.14 = v - 6

v = 7.14 + 6

Therefore, the final velocity is 13.14 m/s.

4. The 50-kg crate shown in Fig. rests on a horizontal surface for which the coefficient of
laila [671]

Answer:

5.057 m/s^2

Explanation:

Force of kinetic friction = .3  = F /normal force

  .3 = F /(50* 9.81)     F of friction = 147.15

Net force =   400 - 147.5  =  252.85  N

F = m * a

252.85 = 50 * a       a = 5.057 m/s^2

An acetal polymer block is fixed to the rigid plates at its top and bottom surfaces. If the top plate displaces 2 mm horizontall
Taya2010 [7]

Answer:

The shear modulus of the polymer is 5 MPa

Solution:

As per the question:

displacement of the top plate, d = 2 mm = 0.002 m

Horizontal Force, P = 2 kN = 2000 N

Width of the block, w = 100 mm = 0.1 m

By small angle analysis:

Angle, \gamma = \frac{2}{200} = 0.01 rad

Now,

Stress, \tau = \frac{P}{Area} = \frac{2000}{0.4\times 0.1} = 50000 Pa

G = \frac{\tau}{\gamma} = \frac{50000}{0.01} = 5 MPa

Describe scalar and vector quantities. Include a definition and provide at least one example of how they are alike and how they
Lunna [17]

Scalar quantities have only magnitude. example temperature, distance.

Vector quantities have magnitude and direction.Example force, velocity.

You can say "I applied a force p\of 3 newtons to the left" but you can't say I added 32 Fahrenheit to the left
