A medieval prince trapped in a castle wraps a message around a rock and throws it from the top of the castle with an initial vel

ocity of 12m/s[42 degrees of above the horizontal]. The rock lands just on the far side of the castle's moat, at a level 9.5m below the initial level. Determine the rock's time of flight. ...?

Vertically we can say
Vertical acceleration = - g
Vertical velocity = u sinѲ - gt [Ѳ = 42; u = 12 m/s]
Vertical displacement = u sinѲt - (1/2) g t^2 + 9.5

When the rock hits the ground, its vertical displacement will be zero. So we can say..

u sinѲt - (1/2) g t^2 + 9.5 = 0
I'll rearrange this ....

- (1/2) g t^2 + u sinѲt + 9.5 = 0

Can you see that we now have a quadratic in t?

Using the well known formula

t = [ - u sinѲ ± √( u^2 sin^2Ѳ - 4(( - (1/2)g * 9.5))] / (- g)

t = [- u sinѲ ± √( u^2 sin^2Ѳ + 19g)] / (-g)

t = [- 8.03 ± √(250.86)] / (-9.81)

t = [- 8.03 ± 15.84] / (-9.81)

t = (- 8.03 + 15.84) / (-9.81) or t = (-8.03 - 15.84) / (-9.81)

t = - 0.8 or t = 2.43

Well, a negative time has no meaning so
t = 2.43 seconds.

How did the discovery of eris force astronomers to reconsider the definition of planet?
kogti [31]

Answer:

Explanation:

They had demoted Pluto on the basis of the discovery of Eris. They also discovered that Eris had a moon. It was thought to be much bigger than Pluto. That turned out not to be true. So having accepted Eris as a planet, they had to consider carefully what to do about Pluto. It has a gravitational constant of 0.82 m/s^2 which is 8.4% of that of our gravitational pull. and slightly more than Pluto.

Later data showed that these two objects in space were more like twins and that's what shook up the definition of a planet. You can't demote one and not the other.

What is the wavelength of an FM radio
AleksandrR [38]

V = 3.0 x 10⁸ m/s (This is the same for all types of electromagnetic waves)

f = 88.6 MHz = 8.86 x 10⁷ Hz

λ = ?

V = fλ

λ = V/f = (3 x 10⁸)/(8.86 x 10⁷)

  =  3.4 m     [Ans]

Hope this helps!

Personality theorists often focus on ________________.
raketka [301]

Personality theorists often focus on differences in individuals.

Answer: Option A

Explanation:

According to the personality psychology, personality scientists study personality and its variations amongst the individuals. They often focus on the thoughts, judgements and social behaviour of the individuals that they exhibit over time. With these observations, they form a report which better conclude their mental and emotional state.

By studying different types of personalities and respective behaviour, personality theorists are able to predict the diversity in human nature and that whether a person is mentally and emotionally healthy. If not, theorists conduct therapies to get them in order and hence, lead a more meaningful and healthy life.

If you found some sandstone in an ancient river bed, which of these conditions at the time that the sandstone was formed would b
Ulleksa [173]
I believe that the answer to this would be option C. Since sandstones are not commonly seen among river beds, the condition that would make us easier to understand as to what happened to this is how fast the river was flowing. Due to the pressure of the river, this brought other sediments with it most especially sandstones.

Consider the following forces. (1) frictional (2) gravitational (3) tension (4) strong nuclear (5) normal (6) electroweak which
Scorpion4ik [409]

The forces listed are considered fundamental forces (2) gravitational (4) strong nuclear (6) electroweak.

Fundamental force, also called fundamental interaction, in physics, is any of the four primary forces—gravitational, electromagnetic, sturdy, and weak—that govern how gadgets or particles interact and how certain particles decay. All of the regarded forces of nature may be traced to those essential forces.

Now, physicists say they have discovered viable symptoms of a fifth essential force of nature. The findings come from studies performed at a laboratory near Chicago. The four fundamental forces govern how all of the objects and particles inside the Universe engage with each other.

The strong nuclear pressure pulled definitely and negatively charged quarks collectively to form undoubtedly charged protons and neutrally charged neutrons. The strong nuclear force also binds protons and neutrons within the nucleus of atoms. The weak nuclear force enabled complicated atoms to form through nuclear fusion.
