Answer: a) 11.76 m/s  b) 7.056 m

Explanation:

The described situation is as follows:

An object is dropped from the top of a tower and when measuring the time it takes to reach the ground that turns out to be 0.02 minutes.

This situation is related to free fall, this also means we have constant acceleration, hence the equations we will use are:

V_{f}=V_{o}+at (1)

{V_{f}}^{2}={V_{o}}^{2}+2ad (2)

Where:

V_{f} Is the final velocity of the object

V_{o}=0 Is the initial velocity of the object (it was dropped)

a=9.8 m/s^{2} is the acceleration due gravity

d is the height of the tower

t=0.02min=1.2 s is the time it takes to the object to reach the ground

b) Begining with (1):

V_{f}=0+at (3)

V_{f}=at=(9.8 m/s^{2})(1.2 s) (4)

V_{f}=11.76 m/s (5)  This is the final velocity of the object

a) Substituting (5) in (2):

(11.76 m/s)^{2}=0+2(9.8 m/s^{2})d (6)

Clearing d:

d=\frac{(11.76 m/s)^{2}}{2(9.8 m/s^{2})} (7)

d=7.056 m (8)  This is the height of the tower

a skinny girl devours food that is equivalent to 600 kcal, as she is anorexic she repents and wants to lose twice as many calori
blondinia [14]

Answer:

Explanation:

Work done in lifting the weight once = mgh

= 20 x 9.8 x (1.9+1.7)

= 705.6 J

= 705.6 / 4.2 calorie

= 168 cals

Total energy to be spent = 600 x 10³ cals

No of times weight is required to be lifted

= 600 x 10³ / 168

= 3.57  x 10³ times

Total time to be taken = 2 x 3.57 x 10³

= 7.14 x 10³ s

=119 minutes .

The maximum wavelength that an electromagnetic wave can have and still eject electrons from a metal surface is 542 nm. What is t
Veseljchak [2.6K]

Answer:

2.295 eV

Explanation:

maximum wavelength, λ = 542 nm = 542 x 10^-9 m

The work function of the metal is defined as the minimum amount of energy falling on the metal so that the photo electrons just ejects the surface of metal.

W_{o}=\frac{hc}{\lambda }

where, h is the Plank's constant and c be the speed of light

h = 6.634 x 10^-34 Js

c = 3 x 10^8 m/s

W_{o}=\frac{6.634\times 10^{-34}\times 3\times 10^{8}}{542\times10^{-9} }

W_{o}=3.67\times 10^{-19} J=\frac{3.67\times 10^{-19}}{1.6\times 10^{-19}} eV

Wo = 2.295 eV

Thus, the work function of this metal is 2.295 eV.

A book is sitting on a desk. What best describes the normal force acting on the book?
maxonik [38]

Gravitational force is the result of the earth pulling down on the book, so the normal force is best described as the earth or more accurately the table pushing up on the book
