Answer:

a) "=T.INV(0.025,10)" and "=T.INV(1-0.025,10)"

And we got t_{\alpha/2}=-2.228 , t_{1-\alpha/2}=2.228

b)  "=T.INV(0.025,20)" and "=T.INV(1-0.025,20)"

And we got t_{\alpha/2}=-2.086 , t_{1-\alpha/2}=2.086

c) "=T.INV(0.005,20)" and "=T.INV(1-0.005,20)"

And we got t_{\alpha/2}=-2.845 , t_{1-\alpha/2}=2.845

d) "=T.INV(0.005,50)" and "=T.INV(1-0.005,50)"

And we got t_{\alpha/2}=-2.678 , t_{1-\alpha/2}=2.678

e) "=T.INV(1-0.01,25)"

And we got t_{\alpha}= 2.485

f) "=T.INV(0.025,5)"

And we got t_{\alpha}= -2.571

Step-by-step explanation:

Previous concepts

The t distribution (Student’s t-distribution) is a "probability distribution that is used to estimate population parameters when the sample size is small (n<30) or when the population variance is unknown".

The shape of the t distribution is determined by its degrees of freedom and when the degrees of freedom increase the t distirbution becomes a normal distribution approximately.

The degrees of freedom represent "the number of independent observations in a set of data. For example if we estimate a mean score from a single sample, the number of independent observations would be equal to the sample size minus one."

Solution to the problem

We will use excel in order to find the critical values for this case

Determine the t critical value(s) that will capture the desired t-curve area in each of the following cases:

a. Central area =.95, df = 10

For this case we want 0.95 of the are in the middle so then we have 1-0.95 = 0.05 of the area on the tails. And on each tail we will have \alpha/2=0.025.

We can use the following excel codes:

"=T.INV(0.025,10)" and "=T.INV(1-0.025,10)"

And we got t_{\alpha/2}=-2.228 , t_{1-\alpha/2}=2.228

b. Central area =.95, df = 20

For this case we want 0.95 of the are in the middle so then we have 1-0.95 = 0.05 of the area on the tails. And on each tail we will have \alpha/2=0.025.

We can use the following excel codes:

"=T.INV(0.025,20)" and "=T.INV(1-0.025,20)"

And we got t_{\alpha/2}=-2.086 , t_{1-\alpha/2}=2.086

c. Central area =.99, df = 20

 For this case we want 0.99 of the are in the middle so then we have 1-0.99 = 0.01 of the area on the tails. And on each tail we will have \alpha/2=0.005.

We can use the following excel codes:

"=T.INV(0.005,20)" and "=T.INV(1-0.005,20)"

And we got t_{\alpha/2}=-2.845 , t_{1-\alpha/2}=2.845

d. Central area =.99, df = 50

  For this case we want 0.99 of the are in the middle so then we have 1-0.99 = 0.01 of the area on the tails. And on each tail we will have \alpha/2=0.005.

We can use the following excel codes:

"=T.INV(0.005,50)" and "=T.INV(1-0.005,50)"

And we got t_{\alpha/2}=-2.678 , t_{1-\alpha/2}=2.678

e. Upper-tail area =.01, df = 25

For this case we need on the right tail 0.01 of the area and on the left tail we will have 1-0.01 = 0.99 , that means \alpha =0.01

We can use the following excel code:

"=T.INV(1-0.01,25)"

And we got t_{\alpha}= 2.485

f. Lower-tail area =.025, df = 5

For this case we need on the left tail 0.025 of the area and on the right tail we will have 1-0.025 = 0.975 , that means \alpha =0.025

We can use the following excel code:

"=T.INV(0.025,5)"

And we got t_{\alpha}= -2.571

What is the value of x.
charle [14.2K]

Answer:

x=13

Step-by-step explanation:

The angle on a straight line is always 180 degrees.

Thus,

(12x-26)+50=180

Remove the brackets:

12x-26+50=180

12x+24=180

Subtract 24 from both sides:

12x+24-24=180-24

12x=156

Divide both sides by 12:

\frac{12x}{12}=\frac{156}{12}\\

x=13

Need help ASAP!!! <br> Multiple choice answers
kobusy [5.1K]

Answer:

A. 16.55

Step-by-step explanation:

What we know is the angle of 38° and the hypotenuse is 21. Before we find x (side b), we have to find side a first. TO find that multiply the sine of 38 by 21.

21 * sin(38)

<em>sin(38) calculates to 0.615661475.</em>

21 * 0.615661475

<em>Multiply 21 by 0.615661475</em>

side a = 12.928890975

Now to find x. Use this to find x: √21² - 12.928890975²

√21² - 12.928890975²

<em>Square both numbers</em>

√441 - 167.156221843

<em>Subtract 167.156221843 from 441</em>

√273.843778157

<em>Find the square root of 273.843778157</em>

x ≈ 16.548225831

x ≈ 16.55, so the answer is A.

8-35. Use your knowledge of polygons to answer the questions below, if possible.
Nataliya [291]

Answer:

(a)I. 13 Sides II. 7 Sides

(b) 4 Sides, Square

(c)x=52 degrees

(d)x=107 degrees

(e)1620 degrees

Step-by-step explanation:

(a)The Sum of the Interior angle of polygon with n sides is derived using the formula: (n-2)180.

I. If the Interior angle is 1980^0

Then:

(n-2)180^0=1980^0\\$Divide both sides by 180^0 $ to isolate n$\\n-2=11\\$Add 2 to both sides of the equation\\n-2+2=11+2\\n=13

The polygon has <u>13 sides.</u>

II. If the Interior angle is 900^0

Then:

(n-2)180^0=900^0\\$Divide both sides by 180^0 $ to isolate n$\\n-2=5\\$Add 2 to both sides of the equation\\n-2+2=5+2\\n=7

The polygon has <u>7 sides.</u>

(b)The sum of the exterior angle of a polygon is 360 degrees,

Each exterior angle of a n-sided regular polygon is: \frac{360^0}{n}

If the exterior angle of a regular polygon is 90°

Then:

90\°=\frac{360^0}{n}\\ 90n=360\\n=4

The regular polygon has 4 sides and it is called a <u>Square.</u>

<u>(c)</u>The Sum of the Interior angle of polygon with n sides is derived using the formula: (n-2)180.

Each Interior angle of a regular n-sided polygon is:  \frac{(n-2)180^0}{n}

For a pentagon, n=5

Then:

\frac{(5-2)180^0}{5}=2x+4\\108=2x+4\\108-4=2x\\104=2x\\x=52^0

(d)The <u>sum of the exterior angle of a polygon is 360 degrees.</u>

If four of the exterior angles of a pentagon are 57, 74, 56, and 66.

Let the fifth angle=x

Then:

57+74+56+66+x=360^0\\253+x=360\\x=107^0

(e)The Sum of the Interior angle of polygon with n sides is derived using the formula: (n-2)180.

In an 11-gon., n=11

Therefore, the sum of the interior angle=(11-2)180=1620^0

The sum of the interior angle <u>does not change either in a regular or irregular polygon.</u>
