The frequency of light for which the wavelength is 420\,{\text{nm}}is \boxed{7.14 \times {{10}^{14}}\,{\text{Hz}}}.

Further explanation:

The frequency is a measure of number of wave’s that passes through a fixed point or place in a given time interval. The S.I unit of frequency is Hertz \left( {{\text{Hz}}} \right).

Wavelength is defined as the distance between two successive crests or troughs of a travelling wave.

Examples of waves are sound wave, light wave, mechanical waves, surface waves etc.

Given:

The wavelength of the light used is 420\,{\text{nm}}.

The speed of the light is 3 \times {10^8}\,{{\text{m}} \mathord{\left/ {\vphantom {{\text{m}} {\text{s}}}} \right. \kern-\nulldelimiterspace} {\text{s}}}.

Concept:

Light is an electromagnetic wave which carries energy in the form of electric field and magnetic field. The speed of light in vacuum is 3 \times {10^8}\,{{\text{m}} \mathord{\left/ {\vphantom {{\text{m}} {\text{s}}}} \right. \kern-\nulldelimiterspace} {\text{s}}}.

The speed of light can be expressed in terms of wavelength of the light and the frequency of the light.

The speed of light is:

c = f \cdot \lambda

Rearrange the above expression.

\boxed{f=\frac{c}{\lambda }}                          …… (1)

Here, f is the frequency of the light, c is the speed of the light in vacuum and \lambda is the wavelength of the light.

Substitute 3 \times {10^8}\,{{\text{m}} \mathord{\left/ {\vphantom {{\text{m}} {\text{s}}}} \right. \kern-\nulldelimiterspace} {\text{s}}} for c and 420 \times {10^{ - 9}}\,{\text{m}} for \lambda in equation (1).

\begin{aligned}f&=\frac{{3\times{{10}^8}\,{{\text{m}}\mathord{\left/ {\vphantom {{\text{m}} {\text{s}}}}\right.\kern-\nulldelimiterspace}{\text{s}}}}}{{420 \times {{10}^{-9}}\,{\text{m}}}}\\&=7.14\times {10^{14}}\,{\text{Hz}} \\ \end{aligned}

Thus, the frequency of light for which the wavelength is 420\,{\text{nm}}is \boxed{7.14 \times {{10}^{14}}\,{\text{Hz}}}.

The equation relating wavelength and frequency of light is:
v = fλ; where v is the wave's speed, f is its frequency and λ is the wavelength.
The speed of violet light will be the same as for any elecromagnetic radiation, that is,
3 x 10⁸ m/s
3 x 10⁸ = f(420 x 10⁻⁹)
f = 7.14 x 10¹⁴ Hz

A layer of oil (n = 1.38) floats on an unknown liquid. A ray of light originates in the oil and passes into the unknown liquid.
Vinil7 [7]

Answer:

Refractive index of unknown liquid = 1.56

Explanation:

Using Snell's law as:

n_i\times {sin\theta_i}={n_r}\times{sin\theta_r}

Where,

{\theta_i}  is the angle of incidence  ( 65.0° )

{\theta_r} is the angle of refraction  ( 53.0° )

{n_r} is the refractive index of the refraction medium  (unknown liquid, n=?)

{n_i} is the refractive index of the incidence medium (oil, n=1.38)

Hence,

1.38\times {sin65.0^0}={n_r}\times{sin53.0^0}

Solving for {n_r},

Refractive index of unknown liquid = 1.56

What is the temperature of a 3.72 mm cube (e=0.288) that radiates 56.6 W?
blsea [12.9K]

Answer:

The temperature is 2541.799 K

Explanation:

The formula for black body radiation is given by the relation;

Q = eσAT⁴

Where:

Q = Rate of heat transfer 56.6

σ = Stefan-Boltzman constant = 5.67 × 10⁻⁸ W/(m²·k⁴)

A = Surface area of the cube = 6×(3.72 mm)² = 8.3 × 10⁻⁵ m²

e = emissivity = 0.288

T = Temperature

Therefore, we have;

T⁴ = Q/(e×σ×A) = 56.6/(5.67 × 10⁻⁸ × 8.3 × 10⁻⁵ × 0.288) = 4.174 × 10¹⁴ K⁴

T  =  2541.799 K

The temperature = 2541.799 K.

9. Since current is the rate at which charge is flowing, if the current in the circuit decreases, what does that mean about the
TiliK225 [7]

Answer:

Electric current is defined as the rate of flow of electric charge in a circuit from point one point to another. This is carried by electrically charged particles within the circuit. Current is represented by the symbol I and its unit measured in Amperes. It is therefore related to the voltage and resistance of the circuit. If the current in the circuit reduces, the rate at which the charge and current on the capacitor reduces also proportionally in an exponential manner.

Explanation:

Since a decrease in the flow of current in the circuit is observed, the implication for the rate at which the charge and voltage on the capacitor is also an exponential decrease in the rate of flow with time. This is because the electric current is directly proportional to the electric charge and the time.

How do you determine the wattage capacity needed by a power supply?
Lady bird [3.3K]
We could use the formula for the Power supply in order to find the wattage capacity and it would be:

P = V²/R or P = V * I

Hope this helps!
