The complete and balanced molecular equation is as follows:

\boxed{{\text{N}}{{\text{a}}_{\text{2}}}{\text{S}}{{\text{O}}_4}\left({aq}\right)+{\text{Ba}}{{\left({{\text{N}}{{\text{O}}_{\text{3}}}}\right)}_2}\left({aq}\right)\to{\text{BaS}}{{\text{O}}_4}\left( {aq}\right)+2{\text{NaN}}{{\text{O}}_3}\left({aq}\right)}

Further Explanation:

The chemical reaction that contains equal number of atoms of the different elements in the reactant as well as in the product side is known as balanced chemical reaction. The chemical equation is required to be balanced to follow the Law of the conservation of mass.

Double displacement reaction is defined as the reaction in which ions of two compound interchange with each other to form the product. For example, the general double displacement reaction between two compound AX and BY is as follows:

{\text{AX}}+{\text{BY}}\to{\text{AY}}+{\text{BX}}

The steps to balance a chemical reaction are as follows:

Step 1: Complete the reaction and write the unbalanced symbol equation.

In the double displacement reaction, sodium sulfate \left({{\text{N}}{{\text{a}}_{\text{2}}}{\text{S}}{{\text{O}}_4}}\right) reacts with barium nitrate \left({{\text{Ba}}{{\left({{\text{N}}{{\text{O}}_3}}\right)}_2}}\right) to form {\text{BaS}}{{\text{O}}_4}  and {\text{NaN}}{{\text{O}}_3} . The physical state of {\text{NaN}}{{\text{O}}_3} , {\text{Ba}}{\left({{\text{N}}{{\text{O}}_{\text{3}}}}\right)_2} , {\text{BaS}}{{\text{O}}_4} and {\text{NaN}}{{\text{O}}_3} is aqueous. The unbalanced chemical equation is as follows:

{\text{N}}{{\text{a}}_{\text{2}}}{\text{S}}{{\text{O}}_4}\left( {aq}\right)+{\text{Ba}}{\left( {{\text{N}}{{\text{O}}_{\text{3}}}}\right)_2}\left( {aq}\right)\to{\text{BaS}}{{\text{O}}_4}\left({aq}\right)+{\text{NaN}}{{\text{O}}_3}\left( {aq}\right)

Step 2: Then we write the number of atoms of all the different elements that are present in a chemical reaction in the reactant side and product side separately.

• On reactant side,

Number of sodium atoms is 2.

Number of sulfur atom is 1.

Number of oxygen atoms is 10.

Number of barium atom is 1.

Number of nitrogen atoms is 2.

• On product side,

Number of sodium atom is 1.

Number of sulfur atom is 1.

Number of oxygen atoms is 7.

Number of barium atom is 1.

Number of nitrogen atoms is 1.

Step 3: Initially, we try to balance the number of other atoms of elements except for carbon, oxygen, and hydrogen by multiplying with some number on any side. Barium and sulfur atoms are balanced on both sides. To balance the number of sodium and nitrogen atom multiply {\text{NaN}}{{\text{O}}_{\text{3}}} by 2. Now the reaction is,

{\text{N}}{{\text{a}}_{\text{2}}}{\text{S}}{{\text{O}}_4}\left({aq}\right)+{\text{Ba}}{\left( {{\text{N}}{{\text{O}}_{\text{3}}}}\right)_2}\left({aq}\right) \to{\text{BaS}}{{\text{O}}_4}\left({aq}\right)+\boxed2{\text{NaN}}{{\text{O}}_3}\left({aq}\right)

Step 4: After this, we balance the number of atoms of carbon and then hydrogen atom followed by oxygen atoms. The number of oxygen, hydrogen, and carbon atoms are same on both sides. Now the reaction is,

 {\text{N}}{{\text{a}}_{\text{2}}}{\text{S}}{{\text{O}}_4}\left({aq}\right)+{\text{Ba}}{\left( {{\text{N}}{{\text{O}}_{\text{3}}}}\right)_2}\left({aq}\right)\to{\text{BaS}}{{\text{O}}_4}\left({aq}\right)+2{\text{NaN}}{{\text{O}}_3}\left({aq}\right)

Step 5: Finally, we check the number of atoms of each element on both the sides. If the number is same then the chemical equation is balanced. The balanced chemical equation is as follows:

{\text{N}}{{\text{a}}_{\text{2}}}{\text{S}}{{\text{O}}_4}\left({aq}\right)+{\text{Ba}}{\left( {{\text{N}}{{\text{O}}_{\text{3}}}}\right)_2}\left({aq}\right)\to{\text{BaS}}{{\text{O}}_4}\left({aq}\right)+2{\text{NaN}}{{\text{O}}_3}\left({aq}\right)

The complete chemical reaction of aqueous Sodium sulfate and aqueous Barium nitrate is

Na_{2}  SO_{4} (aq) + Ba(NO_3)_2(aq) -\ \textgreater \  BaSO_4(s) + 2NaNO_3(aq)

The right side and the left side of the reaction have equal number of elements, therefore it is balanced.

Explain how the heat and phase changes affects the environment? Give examples.<br>(5-7 sentences)
NeX [460]
Energy is required to change the phase of a substance, such as the energy to break the bonds between molecules in a block of ice so it may melt.
During a phase change energy my be added or subtracted from a system, but the temperature will not change. The temperature will change only when the phase change has completed. No temperature change occurs from heat transfer if ice melts and becomes liquid water (i.e., during a phase change). For example, consider water dripping from icicles melting on a roof warmed by the Sun. Conversely, water freezes in an ice tray cooled by lower-temperature surroundings. Energy is required to melt a solid because the cohesive bonds between the molecules in the solid must be broken apart so that the molecules can move around at comparable kinetic energies; thus, there is no rise in temperature.

Atoms have a tendency to complete their outer energy level. This is known as _____.
Alina [70]

Answer : Option C) The Octet Rule

Explanation : Atoms have a tendency to complete their outer energy level. This is known as Octet Rule.

The octet rule is a chemical rule of thumb which reflects the observation, that atoms of main-group elements tends to combine in such a way that each atom gets eight electrons in its valence shell, which gives it the same electron configuration as that of a noble gas.

In short, the tendency of an atom to fill its valence shell and attain a stable state it acquires or donates the electron is called as octet rule.

How many moles of copper are needed to react with sulfur to produce 0.25 moles Ol
Tems11 [23]

Answer:

                       0.50 moles of Cu

Explanation:

                    The balanced chemical equation for given synthetic reaction is,

                                          2 Cu + S → Cu₂S

According to balance chemical equation,

                  1 mole of Cu₂S is produced by  =  2 moles of Cu

So,

          0.25 moles of Cu₂S will be produced by  =  X moles of Cu

Solving for X,

                      X  =  0.25 mol × 2 mol /  1 mol

                      X  =  0.50 moles of Cu

Hence, as the molar ratio of Cu to Cu₂S is 2:1 hence, to produce 0.25 moles of Cu₂S we will need 0.50 moles of Cu.

Select True or False: Pi bonds are covalent bonds in which the electron density is concentrated above and below a plane containi
anzhelika [568]

Answer:

True

Explanation:

In pi bonds, the electron density concentrates itself between the atoms of the compound but are present on either side of the line joining the atoms. Electron density is found above and below the plane of the line joining the internuclear axis of the two atoms involved in the bond.

Pi bonds usually occur by sideways overlap of atomic orbitals and this leads to both double and triple bonds.
