Air bags were placed in cars in order to protect the passengers from impact. However, in some cases, passengers receive injuries

from the air bags. Explain ONE reason why this happens.

Consider the equation relating impulse (change in momentum) to force:

F = Δp/Δt

The average force exerted on your body when you are slowed by an airbag is your impulse divided by the time it takes to slow you down. The airbag can't change your initial momentum in a collision, but where they can vary in the time interval it takes to stop you.

Airbags in general should take some time to slow you down, resulting in a force exerted on your body that will probably be uncomfortable but nothing life-threatening. If the airbag stops you in a short time interval, the force exerted on your body can be quite high, which can lead to injury.

A person is standing on a scale in an unmoving elevator. The elevator starts to move upwards at 1 m/s squared. Is the scale read
timama [110]

Answer: GREATER

Explanation:when elevator does not move it reads weight of the person . when elevator moves up let apparent weight be F . W acts downwards so net force is F-W

HENCE

F-W =ma

F= ma+W

AS a= 1 m/s^2

F = m (1)+W

HENCE GREATER

W=90 kg×4n/kg
Please halp me i need it
kiruha [24]

I'm guessing that this is a problem to find the weight of a 90kg mass on a planet where the acceleration of gravity is 4 m/s^2. (Much less gravity than Earth, a little more than Mars.)

Just do the multiplication, and you get

360 Newtons.

1. What are the units of area under the line/curve?
2. Does the area have any meaning?
TiliK225 [7]

The area under the velocity time graph is 125 m and the meaning of the area is displacement.

What is area under velocity - time graph?

The area under a velocity time graph represents the displacement of the object.

total area of the graph = A1 + A2

total area of the graph = ¹/₂ (base₁)(height₁) + ¹/₂ (base₂)(height₂)

total area of the graph = ¹/₂(4)(40) + ¹/₂(3)(30)

total area of the graph = 125 m

Thus, the area under the velocity time graph is 125 m and the meaning of the area is displacement.

In an old-fashioned amusement park ride, passengers stand inside a 3.0-m-tall, 5.0-m-diameter hollow steel cylinder with their b
lesya692 [45]

Answer:2.55 rad/s

Explanation:

Given

Diameter of ride=5 m

radius(r)=2.5 m

Static friction coefficient range=0.60-1

Here Frictional force will balance weight

And limiting frictional force is provided by Centripetal force

f=\mu N=\mu m\omega ^2\cdot r

weight of object=mg

Equating two

f=mg

\mu m\omega ^2\cdot r=mg

\omega ^2=\frac{g}{\mu r}

\omega =\sqrt{\frac{g}{\mu r}}

\omega =2.55 rad/sec
