Given:

Density of iron:7.874g/mL

Mass of iron : 7.75 gms

Now we know that

Volume = Mass/density

Substituting the given values in the above formula we get

Volume of iron= 7.874/7.75= 1.016 mL

Volume of iron = 0.01016 dL

Octane has a density of 0.692 g/ml at 20oc. how many grams of o2 are required to burn 15.0 gal of c8h18 (the average capacity of
Hatshy [7]

Octane has a density of 0.692 g/ml at 20°C. Grams of O₂ required to burn 15.0 gal of C₈H₁₈ is 1.37868×10⁵g.

Octane is a hydrocarbon having eight carbon atoms and have single bonds only.

Given,

Density of octane = 0.692g/ml

Temperature = 20°C = 293K

Amount of Octane present = 15gal

Molar mass of octane = 114g

We know that,

1 gal = 3.78541L = 3785.4ml

Hence, 15 gal = 56781 ml

Now let's calculate the Mass of octane required:

Mass of octane = 0.692 x 56781

Mass of octane = 39292.45 g

According to the given equation,

C₈H₁₈ + 12.5O₂ ---------> 8CO₂ + 9H₂O

Also, 114g of octane needs-------> 400g of oxygen

39292.45g of octane needs ---------> 137868.24g of oxygen

Hence, oxygen needed to burn octane is 1.37868×10⁵g

A stock solution of HNO3 is prepared and found to contain 13.1 M of HNO3. If 25.0 mL of the stock solution is diluted to a final
musickatia [10]

Answer:

The diluted solution is 0.65 M

Explanation:

Dilution formula to solve the problem is:

M concentrated . V concentrated = M Diluted . V diluted

We can also make a rule of three though.

In 1000 mL of concentrated solution, we have 13.1 moles of  HNO₃

So in 25 mL we have (25 . 13.1 ) / 1000 = 0.327 moles of HNO₃

This moles are also in 0.500 L of diluted solution, the new molarity will be:

0.327 mol / 0.5L = 0.65 M

Molarity of diluted solution must be always lower than concentrated solution, otherwise the excersise is wrong.

If we replace in the formula

13.1 M . 25 mL = 500 mL . M diluted

M diluted = 13.1 m . 25 mL / 500 mL = 0.65 M

How did Henry Moseley affect the development of the periodic table?
Leto [7]
Moseley used self-built equipment to prove that every element's identity is uniquely determined by the number of protons it has.

This amazing discovery revealed the true basis of the periodic table and enabled Moseley to predict confidently the existence of four new chemical elements, all of which were found.

Use Dalton’s theory to explain why potassium nitrate from India or Italy has the same mass percents of K, N, and O.
SVEN [57.7K]

According to Dalton, every atom in an element has the same mass, and compounds are made up of a particular ratio of several elements. Thus the mass percentages of K, N, and O in potassium nitrate from India and Italy are the same.

The laws of conservation of mass and constant composition served as the foundation for Dalton's theory. In the first section of his thesis, he claims that all matter is composed of indivisible atoms. According to the second component of the theory, the mass and characteristics of every atom in a specific element are the same. Parts of the theory had to be modified based on the existence of subatomic particles and isotopes.
