Carbon-cycle is the cyclic process in which Carbon is  between different spheres of the Earth. Carbon is a major component of all the organic compounds as well as many minerals.  

Carbon is inter converted through the main processes: photosynthesis and respiration. Carbon dioxide incorporates in the living tissues through photosynthesis and is returned to the environment through the process of respiration, death and decay of living organisms etc.
