-2x + y = 8
y = 2x + 8
now sub in 2x + 8 for y in the other equation
3x + 2y = 2
3x + 2(2x + 8) = 2...distribute the 2 thru the parenthesis
3x + 4x + 16 = 2
7x = 2 - 16
7x = - 14
x = -14/7
x = -2
now sub -2 in for x in either equation to find y
-2x + y = 8
-2(-2) + y = 8
4 + y = 8
y = 8 - 4
y = 4

solution is : (-2,4)

Can someone please answer the highlighted questions? thanks!
raketka [301]

Answer:

28 = 14 + x,  51 = 38 + x

Step-by-step explanation:

I got both sums because the last part says "is 28" and "is fifty-one," signaling that they each take up one side of the equation. Sum means add (so a + sign) and more than also means add (in this case). X just stands for the numbers not given.

What is the constant of the function ??
Veseljchak [2.6K]

Answer:

6

Step-by-step explanation:

A quadratic function is a function of the form f(x) = ax^2 +bx+c, where a, b, and c are constants and a <> 0.  (a not equal to 0)

The term ax^2 is called the quadratic term (hence the name given to the function), the term bx is called the  linear term, and the term c is called the constant term.

which of the following statements best describes midpoint of a line segment? 1. point at end of line segments 2. a point halfway
BARSIC [14]
<h2>Hello!</h2>

The answer is:

2. A point halfway between the endpoints of a line segment.

<h2>Why?</h2>

The midpoint of a line segment, is a point that divides the line segment into two equal length sides, no matter the length of the segment, the midpoint will always cut the segment into two equal length sides

The midpoint is an ordinary point located in the middle of the line segment. The x-coordinate of the midpoint is halfway between the x-coordinates of the beginning and the end of the segment. The y-coordinate of the midpoint is halfway between the y-coordinates of the beginning and the end of the segment.

Hence, the correct option is:

2. A point halfway between the endpoints of a line segment.

HELP?? If one is added to a number and the sum is tripled the result is 19 more then the number. Find the number. Um?
Viefleur [7K]
<h3><u>The value of x is equal to 8.</u></h3>

3(x + 1) = 19 + x

<em><u>Distributive property.</u></em>

3x + 3 = 19 + x

<em><u>Subtract x from both sides.</u></em>

2x + 3 = 19

<em><u>Subtract 3 from both sides.</u></em>

2x = 16

<em><u>Divide both sides by 2.</u></em>

x = 8
