Remark
Make up a proportion that relates the tree and its properties to the stick and its properties.

Givens
Stick height (s_h) = 4
Stick shadow(s_s) = 2
Tree shadow = t_s = 18
Tree height = x

Formula
s_h / s_s = x / t_s

Substitute and solve.
4/2 = x / 18  Cross multiply
4*18 = 2 * x
72 = 2x        Divide by 2
72/2 = x
x = 36

The height of the tree is 36 feet.

Serhud [2]

Answer:

b. n

d. 2^lgn

c. n^2.1

a. 4^2lgn

Step-by-step explanation:

Logarithm is a function of mathematics which is used to calculate inverse function of exponents. The asymptotically smallest function will be the one that has smallest or no exponents. The exponent function is calculated in reverse when log is applied. The function with highest exponents will be largest asymptotically.

Check the picture below.

so we know the radius of the semicircle is 2 and the rectangle below it is really a 4x4 square, so let's just get their separate areas and add them up.

\stackrel{\textit{area of the semicircle}}{\cfrac{1}{2}\pi r^2}\implies \cfrac{1}{2}(\stackrel{\pi }{3.14})(2)^2\implies 3.14\cdot 2\implies 6.28 \\\\\\ \stackrel{\textit{area of the square}}{(4)(4)}\implies 16 \\\\[-0.35em] ~\dotfill\\\\ ~\hfill \stackrel{\textit{sum of both areas}}{16+6.28=22.28}~\hfill
