At a certain temperature the speeds of six gaseous molecules in a container are 2.0 m/s, 2.2 m/s, 2.6 m/s, 2.7 m/s, 3.3 m/s, and
iren [92.7K]

Answer:

root-mean-sqaure = 2.77 m/s

average = 2.72 m/s

The root-mean-square is always the largest because it takes account of the variance of the spread of the data. The increase is related to the fact that the data varies to sample.

Explanation:

The rootmean-square (R) is the square root of the squares of the valeus divided by the number of the datas.

R = \sqrt{\frac{x1^2 + x2^2 +...+xn^2}{n} }

R = \sqrt{\frac{(2.0)^2 + (2.2)^2 + (2.6)^2 + (2.7)^2 ^(3.3)^2 + (3.5)^2}{6} }

R = √(46.03)/6

R = 2.77 m/s

The average speed is the sum of the speeds divided by the number of datas:

A = \frac{2.0 + 2.2 + 2.6 + 2.7 + 3.3 + 3.5}{6}

A = 16.3/6

A = 2.72 m/s

Select ALL correct answers. The contact force is caused by: A. Atoms randomly crashing into each other B. The charged particles
Inessa [10]

Answer:

A. Atoms randomly crashing into each other

E. The force of one object pushing against the force of another object.

Explanation:

Forces can be classified into two categories based upon the the mode of transfer or application:

1. Contact forces

2. Non-contact forces

Contact forces are the ones which require the physical contact of the matter to get transferred and tend to create the affect. Whereas non-contact forces have the field property which transfers the affect of force from one point to another without any physical contact of the matter or the medium.

  • Atoms crashing onto each other have some mass and velocity which upon collision impacts the other atoms exerts a contact force.
  • The interaction between the charged particles due to their charges is always due to the electric field be it electron or proton, be it within an atom or out of an atom.
  • The force between any two objects pushing or pulling each other is also possible only due to contact.

The following equation is one way to prepare oxygen in a lab. 2KClO3 → 2KCl + 3O2 Molar mass Info: MM O2 = 32 g/mol MM KCl = 74
Alex73 [517]
From  the  equation  above   the  reacting   ratio  of  KClO3   to  O2  is  2:3 therefore  the  number  of  moles  of  oxygen  produced  is  ( 4 x3)/2 =  6 moles  since   four  moles  of  KClO3  was  consumed
mass=relative  formula mass  x  number  of  moles
That  is   32g/mol x 6  moles  =192grams
