Why can't a star's distance be determined solely from its apparent brightness in the sky? (A) stars move too fast (B) stars burn

Answer:

(C) stars have different energy outputs

Explanation:

All the stars that we see in the Universe are not of the same size and brightness. Also, they are not situated at the same distance from us. If all the stars had been of the same size and luminosity, we could have determined their distance with the help of their apparent brightness. Also there can be two stars of equal size but their apparent brightness might be different. The brightness depends on the size and the age of the stars. There can be a very bright star which looks very faint to us just because its farther in comparison to other stars.

Hence, we can not rely solely on the apparent brightness of the stars as they have different energy outputs.

A 12 g plastic ball is dropped from a height of 2.5 m and is moving at 3.2 m/s just before it hits the floor. How much mechanica
Nataly [62]

Answer:

0.24

Explanation:

Mass of ball= 12g=0.012Kg

height of ball= 2.5m

velocity of ball before falling= 3.2m/s

potential energy of the ball=mgh= 0.012*10*2.5=0.3J

kinetic energy of the ball=0.5*mv^{2}=0.5*0.012*3.2*3.2=0.6J

Loss in mechanical energy during the fall= potential energy- Kinetic energy= 0.3-0.06=0.24J

note: During the fall, the potential energy of the ball is converted to kinetic energy. the loss in energy is due to air resistance.

DochEvi [55]

Answer:

25.13 cm

Explanation:

Mrs. Lynn's art class is making pencil holders out of soup cans

These soup cans are definitely in cylindrical forms.

Each student is first covering a can with felt.

A felt is a type of material that is used for covering other objects. Here a felt is used to cover soup cans.

So if the diameter of the bottom of the can is 8 cm (i.e d = 8cm)

What will the circumference of the piece of felt need to be in order to cover the bottom of the can?

The felt will also take the circumference of a cylinder; and which is given by the expression

C = 2 πr

since diameter (d) = 8 cm

radius (r) = \frac{d}{2}

r = \frac{8}{2}

r = 4 cm

C = 2 × π × 4 cm

C = 2 × 3.142 × 4 cm

C = 25.13 cm

∴ the circumference of the piece of felt need to be 25.13 cm in order to cover the bottom of the can.

xxMikexx [17]

From the front door to his current position, Aaron's Distance is 4m. and his Displacement is 4m.

Distance is a measure of how far apart two objects or locations are using numbers. The distance can refer to a physical length in physics or to an estimate based on other factors in common usage. Sometimes, the symbol |AB| is used to represent the distance between two points.

A displacement is a vector in geometry and mechanics that have a length equal to the shortest distance between a point P's initial and final positions.

Given,

Length of path  = 4m

Distance  =?

Displacement  =?

Distance is the length of the path and it has magnitude but no direction. The distance covered is 4m Displacement is the length of the path and it has magnitude and direction. Displacement is 4m towards the mailbox.
