Answer:

Option (C)

Explanation:

In order to generate convection cells, the fluid must be of extremely high temperature and low density.

The lower part of the fluid when heated, the temperature increases significantly, as a result of which it expands. Due to this, it becomes less dense, and tends to rise up towards the surface. This rising fluid when reaches the surface, its temperature eventually decreases. It then becomes denser and subsequently sinks to the bottom. This is how the cycle repeats, forming the convection cells in the fluid.

Thus, both the thermal gradient as well as density is responsible for the formation of convection cells in a fluid.

Hence, the correct answer is option (C).

Convection cells don't work in solids.

In order for convection to happen, material with some temperature and density has to FLOW to a place where the material there has a different temperature and density.

Material doesn't FLOW in solids, only in FLuids.

How does the amount of resistors affect the current in a series circuit
Yuki888 [10]
The current in a series circuit decreases as the TOTAL RESISTANCE increases. Resistors come in many values, so the total resistance has nothing to do with the number of resistors. There could easily be one single resistor with greater resistance than 500 resistors with smaller values.

A ruby laser delivers a 16.0-ns pulse of 4.20-MW average power. If the photons have a wavelength of 694.3 nm, how many are conta
stepan [7]

Answer:

The  value is  n  =  2.347 *10^{17} \  photons

Explanation:

From the question we are told that

     The  amount of power delivered is  P  =  4.20 \  M W  =  4.20  *10^{6} \  W

      The  time taken is  t =  16.0ns  =  16.0 *10^{-9} \  s

       The  wavelength is  \lambda  =  694.3 \  nm =  694.3 *10^{-9} \  m

Generally the energy delivered is  mathematically represented as

     E  =  P  * t  =  \frac{n  *  h  *  c  }{\lambda }

Where  h is the Planck's constant with value  h  =  6.262  *10^{-34} \  J \cdot  s

           c  is the speed of light with value  c =  3.0*10^{8} \  m/s

So

    4.20 *10^{6}  *  16*10^{-9}=  \frac{n  *  6.626 *10^{-34}  *  3.0*10^{8}  }{694.3 *10^{-9}}

=>    n  =  2.347 *10^{17} \  photons

A punter wants to kick a football so that the football has a total flight time of 3.7 s and lands 56m away (measured along the g
Irina18 [472]

The maximum height is 16.8 m

Explanation:

In order to find the maximum height reached by the football, we can just analyze its vertical motion.

The vertical motion of the ball is a free  fall motion, affected only by the force of gravity. So it is a uniformly accelerated motion, and we can use suvat equations.

First of all, we notice that the motion of the ball is symmetrical, so the time taken to reach the maximum height is equal to the time needed to fall down: Since the total time of flight is

T = 3.7 s

It means that the time to reach the maximum height is

t=\frac{T}{2}=\frac{3.7}{2}=1.85 s

We can now find the maximum height reached using the equation:

s=vt-\frac{1}{2}at^2

Where:

s is the vertical displacement (the maximum height)

v = 0 is the velocity of the ball at the maximum height

t = 1.85 s is the time

a=g=-9.8 m/s^2 is the acceleration of gravity

Solving for s,

s=-\frac{1}{2}(-9.8)(1.85)^2=16.8 m

A 970 kg car starts from rest on a horizontal roadway and accelerates eastward
a_sh-v [17]

Answer: 4850N

Explanation:

Mass of car = 970 kg

Time = 5 s

Speed = 25 m/s

Average force exerted on the car = ?

Recall that Force is the product of the mass of an object and the acceleration by which it moves

i.e Force = mass x acceleration

(Since, acceleration is the rate of change of velocity or speed per unit time)

i.e Acceleration = Speed / Time

Acc = 25m/s / 5s

Acc = 5m/s^2

Average force = mass x acceleration

Avg force = 970 kg x 5m/s^2

= 4850N

Thus, the average force exerted on the car is 4850 Newton
