Answer: The number of grams of O_2 formed is 8.32 g

Explanation:

According to the ideal gas equation:

PV=nRT

P = Pressure of the gas = Total pressure - presure of water = (747-17.5)mm Hg= 729.5 mm Hg = 0.96 atm     (760mmHg=1atm)

V= Volume of the gas = 6.42 L

n=  moles of gas = ?

T= Temperature of the gas in kelvin = 20^0C=(20+273)=293K

R= Gas constant = 0.0821Latm/Kmol

n=\frac{PV}{RT}=\frac{0.96\times 6.42}{0.0821\times 293}=0.26moles

The balanced chemical reaction is:

2KClO_3(s)\rightarrow 2KCl(s)+3O_2(g)

Mass of O_2 produced=moles\times {\text {Molar Mass}}=0.26mol\times 32g/mol=8.32g

Thus number of grams of O_2 formed is 8.32 g

A container is filled with a mixture of gases:
strojnjashka [21]

Answer:

The partial pressure of chlorine gas in the mixture is 1.55 atm.

Explanation:

Partial pressure of oxygen gas = p_1=1.0 atm

Partial pressure of nitrogen gas = p_2=0.75 atm

Partial pressure of chlorine gas = p_3=?

Total pressure of the mixture of gases = P = 3.30 atm

Using Dalton's law of partial pressure:

P=p_1+p_2+p_3

3.30 atm=1.0 atm+ 0.75 atm+p_3

p_3=3.30atm - (1.0 atm+ 0.75 atm)=1.55 atm

The partial pressure of chlorine gas in the mixture is 1.55 atm.

How and when do real gases differ from ideal gases?
MrRa [10]
Ok I’m not completely confident on this but I think it’s when there are only little amounts of the gas

Which has more particles? 10.0 g of Carbon or 10.0 g Calcium? How many atoms does each have?
Snezhnost [94]

Answer:

10g Carbon has more particles.

Explanation:

To Find

Which has more particles 10g of C or 10g of Ca

The molar mass of carbon is 12g and Calcium is 40g.

1 mole of  atom , molecule or ions contain Avagadro number (6.022×10∧23) of particles and also have a mass equal to it's molar mass.

For C,

12g C  will have 6.022×10∧23 atoms

10g C will have  \frac{10}{12} ×6.022×10∧23 atoms

=0.833 × 10∧23 atoms

For Ca,

1 mole Ca =40g

40g Ca will have 6.022×10∧23 atoms

10g Ca will have \frac{10}{40} ×6.022×10∧23 atoms

=0.25 × 6.022×10∧23 atoms

What might you expect for the value of S∘ (entropy) for butane, C4H10?
Norma-Jean [14]

Answer:

340 J·K⁻¹mol⁻¹

Explanation:

I looks like the standard entropy increases approximately linearly with the number of C atoms.

I plotted S° vs the number of C atoms and got the graph shown below.

It appears that S° for four carbon atoms should be about 340 J·K⁻¹mol⁻¹.·
