A metamorphic rock is made from igneous rocks, sedimentary rocks, or other metamorphic rock. It is made by either compaction or cementation. Compaction is when layers of sediments pile over a rock and then squeeze together. Cementation is when the rock is held together by the sediments. Metamorphic rocks can be either foliated or non-foliated. Foliated rocks have layers, while non-foliated rocks don't. A rock that has been changed into a metamorphic rock is also called the parent rock. Similarly, a metamorphic rock can change back into a sedimentary rock by the opposite process.

Describe the relationship between the atomic number, mass number, number of protons, number of neutrons.
Charra [1.4K]

Explanation:

Atomic number (Z) = Number of the protons

It means that if the atomic number of C is 6, it implies that the number of protons in carbon is 6 too.

Mass number (M) = Number of the protons +  Number of the neutrons

It means that if the atomic mass of C is 12, it implies that the number of protons and the neutrons in carbon is 12.

What is the ph of 0.51 m ca(ch3coo)2 solution?
Sidana [21]

Answer : The pH of calcium acetate solution will be 9.38.

Explanation : When calcium acetate dissocates completely in solution to form Calcium(+2) ions and two acetate ions, this gives the acetate ion concentration as (2 X 0.51 M) = 1.02 M

Acetate ion then hydrolyzes as follows;

C_{2}H_{3}O_{2}^{-}  + HOH  HC_{2}H_{2}O_{2} + OH^{-}:

Now, Kb will be = [HC_{2}H_{2}O_{2}]  [OH^{-}] / [C_{2}H_{3}O_{2}^{-}]

= Kw / Ka

= 1 x 10^{-14} / 1.8 x 10^{-5} = 5.6 × 10^{-10}

[OH^{-}] = 2.4 × 10^{-5}

Now, we know , pOH = -log [OH^{-}] = 4.62

So, the pH = 14 - pOH = 14 - 4.62 = 9.38
