A man on the 14 th floor of a building sees a bucket (dropped by a window washer) passing his window and notes that it hits the

Answer:

The bucket was the dropped from 56 th floor.

Explanation:

Given that,

Height of floor = 4.9 m

Height of 14 floor = 68.6 m

Time taken = 1 sec

We need to calculate the speed of the bucket

Using equation of motion

s=ut+\dfrac{1}{2}gt^2

Put the value into the formula

68.6=v\times1+\dfrac{1}{2}\times9.8\times(1)^2

v=68.6-\dfrac{1}{2}\times9.8\times(1)^2

v=63.7\ m/s

We need to calculate the time

Using equation of motion

v=u+gt

t=\dfrac{v}{g}

Put the value into the formula

t=\dfrac{63.7}{9.8}

t=6.5\ sec

We need to calculate the distance

Using equation of motion

s=ut+\dfrac{1}{2}gt^2

s=0+\dfrac{1}{2}gt^2

Put the value into the formula

s=\dfrac{1}{2}\times9.8\times(6.5)^2

s=207.025\ m

We need to calculate the number of floor

n=\dfrac{s}{h_{f}}

Put the value into the formula

n=\dfrac{207.025}{4.9}

n=42.25\approx42

The bucket was the dropped from

f=14+42= 56

Hence, The bucket was the dropped from 56 th floor.

You buy a magnifying glass at the store. The lens in the magnifying glass is a double convex lens, a lens with two convex curved
Leokris [45]

Answer:

30 cm

Explanation:

f = Focal length = 25 cm

R = Radius of curvature (both sides are equal)

\mu = Refractive index of lens = 1.6

The lens maker formula is given by

\frac{1}{f}=(\mu-1)(\frac{1}{R_1}-\frac{1}{R_2})\\\Rightarrow \frac{1}{f}=(\mu-1)(\frac{1}{R}-\frac{1}{-R}) minus sign because it is on the other side

\\\Rightarrow \frac{1}{f}=(\mu-1)\frac{2}{R}\\\Rightarrow R=2(\mu-1)f\\\Rightarrow R=2(1.6-1)\times 25\\\Rightarrow R=30\ cm

The radius of curvature of the glass surface is 30 cm

Prompt Write about what you have learned about parts of the atom and the
Kay [80]

Answer:

The table can be used to predict the properties of elements, even those that have not yet been discovered.  Columns (groups) and rows (periods) indicate elements that share similar characteristics. The table makes trends in element properties apparent and easy to understand. The table provides important information used to balance chemical equations. Atoms are important because they form the basic building blocks of all visible matter in the universe. There are 92 types of atoms that exist in nature, and other types of atoms can be made in the lab. The different types of atoms are called elements. Hydrogen, gold and iron are examples of elements comprised of unique types of a single kind of atom.
