Which planet is it "survivable" to walk outside in shorts, a tank top and sandals. Earth, depending on where you are Venus but o

nly at the poles. Jupiter, but only at 1 atm of pressure in a properly equipped open basket hot air balloon. Mars but only at the equator

Determine the magnitude of the momentum of a ... 107-kg halfback moving eastward at 8 m/s.The halfback's momentum in kgm/s is:
Veronika [31]

Given:

The mass of the halfback is m = 107 kg

The speed of the halfback is v = 8 m/s

To find the momentum.

Explanation:

The momentum of the halfback is

\begin{gathered} p=\text{ mv} \\ =\text{ 107}\times8 \\ =\text{ 856 kg m/s} \end{gathered}

Thus, the momentum of the halfback is 856 kg m/s

What happens if two black holes collide
blagie [28]

When two black holes spiral around each other and ultimately collide, they send out gravitational waves - ripples in space and time that can be detected with extremely sensitive instruments on Earth. ... If confirmed, it would be the first known light flare from a pair of colliding black holes.

Time dilation: A missile moves with speed 6.5-10 m/s with respect to an observer on the ground. How long will it take the missil
tatyana61 [14]

Answer:

The time taken by missile's clock is 4.6\times 10^{6} s

Solution:

As per the question:

Speed of the missile, v_{m = 6.5\times 10^{3}} m/s

Now,

If 'T' be the time of the frame at rest then the dilated time as per the question is given as:

T' = T + 1

Now, using the time dilation eqn:

T' = \frac{T}{\sqrt{1 + (\frac{v_{m}}{c})^{2}}}

\frac{T'}{T} = \frac{1}{\sqrt{1 + (\frac{v_{m}}{c})^{2}}}

\frac{T + 1}{T} = \frac{1}{\sqrt{1 + (\frac{v_{m}}{c})^{2}}}

1 + \frac{1}{T} = \frac{1}{\sqrt{1 + (\frac{v_{m}}{c})^{2}}}

1 + \frac{1}{T} = (1 + (\frac{v_{m}}{c})^{2})^{- \frac{1}{2}}         (1)

Using binomial theorem in the above eqn:

We know that:

(1 + x)^{a} = 1 + ax

Thus eqn (1) becomes:

1 + \frac{1}{T} = 1 - \frac{- 1}{2}.\frac{v_{m}^{2}}{c^{2}}

T = \frac{2c^{2}}{v_{m}^{2}}

Now, putting appropriate values in the above eqn:

T = \frac{2(3\times 10^{8})^{2}}{(6.5\times 10^{3})^{2}}

T = 4.6\times 10^{6} s

The brakes of a 125 kg sled are applied while it is moving at 8.1 m/s, which exerts a force of 261 N to slow the sled down. How
sammy [17]

Answer:

15.7 m

Explanation:

m = mass of the sled = 125 kg

v₀ = initial speed of the sled = 8.1 m/s

v = final speed of sled = 0 m/s

F = force applied by the brakes in opposite direction of motion = 261

d = stopping distance for the sled

Using work-change in kinetic energy theorem

- F d = (0.5) m (v² - v₀²)

- (261) d = (0.5) (125) (0² - 8.1²)

d = 15.7 m

What is special about nitrogen, and what is its main function in the atmosphere
Vlad [161]
Nitrogen is the most abundant of the gases present in the atmosphere. 78 percent of the atmospheric air comprises of nitrogen, oxygen makes up for 21 percent and all other gases make up for the remaining one percent. Oxygen is a highly flammable gas and in the absence of nitrogen it would not have been possible to utilize this atmospheric oxygen, hence the presence of nitrogen reduces its flammability and also neutralizes the toxicity of other gases.
