Answer:

c) Both a) and b) are the combinations that have a negative velocity.

Explanation:

The velocity is given by this equation:

v = Δx / Δt

Where

Δx = final position - initial position

Δt = elapsed time

Now let´s evaluate the options. We have to find those combinations in which Δx < 0 since Δt is always positive.

a) If the initial position, x, is positive and you move towards the origin, the final position will be a smaller value than x. Then:

                          final position < initial position

final position - initial position < 0 The velocity will be negative.

b) If x is negative and you move away from the origin, the final position will be a more negative number than x. Again:

                          final position < initial position

final position - initial position < 0 The velocity will be negative.

Let´s do an example to show it:

initial position = -5

final position = -10 (since you moved away from the origin)

final position - initial position = -10 -(-5) = -5

d) If x is positive and you move away from the origin, the final position will be a greater value than the initial position. Then:

                          final position > initial position

final position - initial position > 0 The velocity will be positive.

e) If x is negative and you move towards the origin, the final position will be a greater value than the initial position. Then:

                          final position > initial position

final position - initial position > 0 The velocity will be positive.

Let´s do an example:

initial position = -10

final position = -5

final postion - initial position = -5 - (-10) = 5

or with final position = 0

final postion - initial position = 0 -(-10) = 10

And so on.

The right answer is c) Both a) and b) are the combinations that have a negative velocity.

What is the weight in Newtons of a ball with a mass of 7.77 kg?
rusak2 [61]

Answer:

76.1N

Explanation:

Given parameters:

Mass of the ball = 7.77kg

Unknow:

Weight of balloon  = ?

Solution:

Weight is the vertical force applied on a body.

  Weight = mass x acceleration due gravity

So;

  Weight = mass x acceleration due to gravity

So;

Weight  = 7.77 x 9.8  = 76.1N

Which process is represented by the PV diagram?
Reika [66]

Hi!

The answer would be A. Isobaric Process

Explanation:

Isobaric process is a process where the pressure inside a system remains unchanged. In the Pressure Volume graph given, you can see that the pressure (y axis) remains constant with an increasing volume ( x axis). An example of this would be heating a container with a movable piston. Now, the degree of pressure is dependent on the frequency of collisions of particles inside a system on the walls. If this frequency changes, the pressure changes (proportionally). In our example, heating a container with a movable piston results in the particles inside the container to gain kinetic energy and move faster, meaning an increased frequency of collisions (higher pressure), but at the system time the increase in pressure results in the piston being pushed outwards, causing the volume of the container to increase. This results in decreased frequency of collision of the particles with the walls of the container (lesser pressure). This results in the a zero net effect on the pressure.

Hope this helps!

A long uniformly charged thread (linear charge density λ= 2.5 C/m) lies along the x axis in the figure.(Figure 1) A small charge
Kamila [148]

Answer 1) The electric field at distance r from the thread is radial and has magnitude

E = λ / (2 π ε° r)

The electric field from the point charge usually is observed to follow coulomb's law:

E = Q / (4  π ε° r^{2})

Now, adding the two field vectors:

E_{thread}  =  {2.5 / (22 π ε° X 0.07 ) ; 0}

Answer 2) E_{q}  = {2.3 / (4 2 π ε°) ( - 7/ (√(84); -12 / (√84))

Adding these two vectors will give the length which is magnitude of the combined field.

The y-component / x-component gives the tangent of the angle with the positive x-axes.

Please refer the graph and the attachment for better understanding.

How do you think car makers can design cars to limit cell phone distractions?
Dafna11 [192]

I have two (2) brilliant ideas:

1). Inside the metal that the body of the car is made of, and also between the two sheets of glass that the windows are made of, install a thin layer of material that absorbs RF (radio-wave) energy . . . like the material in the glass window of your microwave oven. Then, no radio waves from the cellular base station can get INTO the car, and no radio waves from your phone can get OUT of the car. The phone can't make a connection to the cellular network, you can't make or receive calls, and you can't connect to Instagram or Brainly, so you might as well just turn it off and save your battery until next time you're outside your car.

2). Somewhere inside the car, like under the dash or in the glove box, install a teeny tiny radio receiver that can recognize the signals coming OUT of your phone. Connect it to the car's electrical system so that when it hears signals from phones inside the car, it it shuts down the car's motor so you can't start or drive. The car only works when phones inside the car are either turned off or in Airplane Mode.

My ideas are so brilliant that I really should patent them, or copyright them, or whatever you do so that other people have to pay you to use your idea. But if you want to use them, that's OK. Just go ahead. I won't mind.
