The options is as follows:

a. When lithium is placed in water, the temperature of the container increases.

b. The combustion of kerosene releases heat.

c.  When barium hydroxide is mixed with ammonium chloride, ice crystals form on the outside of the container.

d. The reaction of trinitrotoluene with oxygen releases heat and light.

Answer:

c.  When barium hydroxide is mixed with ammonium chloride, ice crystals form on the outside of the container.

Explanation:

An endothermic reaction is a chemical reaction whereby heat or energy is absorb from the environment. The heat absorb from the environment is used to provide the activation energy needed for the reaction to be carried out. This energy can be absorbed in the form of heat, light and electricity.

In endothermic reaction their is an overall decrease in the temperature as heat is usually absorb from the surrounding . Usually, after the reaction the components feel cold. Examples of endothermic reaction is dissolving salt in water. Other example of endothermic process are cooking an egg and evaporating liquid water.

Note not all endothermic process are chemical reaction because chemical reaction usually involve breaking or formation of chemical bond. Example of endothermic process that are not chemical  reaction is sweating.

All the other process, their is a release of heat to the surrounding except When barium hydroxide is mixed with ammonium chloride, ice crystals form on the outside of the container.

The acetylene tank contains 35.0 mol C2H2, and the oxygen tank contains 84.0 mol O2.
harkovskaia [24]

Answer:- As per the question is asked, 35.0 moles of acetylene gives 70 moles of carbon dioxide but if we solve the problem using the limiting reactant which is oxygen then 67.2 moles of carbon dioxide will form.

Solution:- The balanced equation for the combustion of acetylene is:

2C_2H_2(g)+5O_2(g)\rightarrow 4CO_2(g)+2H_2O(g)

From the balanced equation, two moles of acetylene gives four moles of carbon dioxide. Using dimensional analysis we could show the calculations for the formation of carbon dioxide by the combustion of 35.0 moles of acetylene.

35.0molC_2H_2(\frac{4molCO_2}{2molC_2H_2})

= 70molCO_2

The next part is, how we choose 35.0 moles of acetylene and not 84.0 moles of oxygen.

From balanced equation, there is 2:5 mol ratio between acetylene and oxygen. Let's calculate the moles of oxygen required to react completely with 35.0 moles of acetylene.

35.0molC_2H_2(\frac{5molO_2}{2molC_2H_2})

= 87.5molO_2

Calculations shows that 87.5 moles of oxygen are required to react completely with 35.0 moles of acetylene. Since only 84.0 moles of oxygen are available, the limiting reactant is oxygen, so 35.0 moles of acetylene will not react completely as it is excess reactant.

So, the theoretical yield should be calculated using 84.0 moles of oxygen as:

84.0molO_2(\frac{4molO_2}{5molO_2})

= 67.2molCO_2

The density of copper is 8.9 g/mL. What is the volume of 20.5 g copper?
love history [14]

Answer:

density = 8.9 g/ml

m = 20.5 g

V = ... ?

density = m/V

V = m / density

= 20.5 / 8.9

= 2.30337 ml

Identify each of the following sets of quantum numbers as allowed or not allowed in the hydrogen atom.
Westkost [7]

Answer:

See explanation.

Explanation:

Hello there!

In this case, according to the given information, it turns out possible for us to firstly recall the electron configuration of hydrogen:

1s^1

To realize that the principal quantum number is 1, the angular is 0 as well as the magnetic one; therefore we infer that all the given n's are not allowed, just l=0 is allowed as well as ml=0 yet the rest, are not allowed.

Best regards!

Two chemist are trying to determine if their water sample is a mixture or pure substance. In their investigation they first filt
Effectus [21]

The correct answer is option B. Dirty water is a mixture of solid particles and liquid. It is both a mixture and pure substance.

The dirty water sample has both gravel and liquid water in it. After filtration the gravel is removed so the water sample looks clearer than before filtration. Liquid water is a pure substance because it is a compound that is made up of elements hydrogen and oxygen. Now the gravel is only physically combined with the liquid water, thus giving the water sample properties of a mixture. And like any mixture, gravel is physically separated through filtration from the liquid water.

Thus the water sample of the chemists is both a mixture and pure substance.
