Hydrogen bonding between polyamide chains plays an important role in determining the properties of a nylon such as nylon 6,6. Dr

aw the structural formulas for two adjacent chains of nylon 6,6, and show where hydrogen-bonding interactions could occur between them.

Answer:

See figure 1

Explanation:

In the structure of nylon 6,6 we have <u>amide groups</u>. In this functional group, We have a nitrogen bond to hydrogen, so in this bond, we will have a <u>dipole</u>, due to the <u>electronegativity difference</u>. Nitrogen has more electronegativity than hydrogen, therefore a <u>positive dipole</u> would be generated in the hydrogen atom. Additionally, in the <u>carbonyl group</u> (C=O) due to the oxygen, we will have also a <u>dipole</u>, in this case, a <u>negative dipole</u> because the oxygen atom has <u>more electronegativity</u> (compare with carbon).

When we put two strings of nylon 6,6 the positive dipole will interact with the negative dipole and vice-versa and we will obtain the <u>"hydrogen bonds"</u>.

See figure 1

I hope it helps!

Which compounds are lewis bases? select all that apply. h―c≡c―h h− nh3 ch3ch2ch3?
Alisiya [41]

The Lewis bases are those which can donate electron pair to an acceptor. These electrons can be a pair of electron that is a lone pair, a negative charge or electrons in a \pi-bond.

  • In H-C\equiv C-H, the presence of \pi-bond make it a Lewis base.
  • In H^{-}, the presence of negative charge makes it a Lewis base.
  • In NH_3, the presence of lone pair on nitrogen makes it a Lewis base.
  • In CH_3CH_2CH_3, there is no lone pair, no \pi-bond, no negative charge so it is not a Lewis base.

Hence, H-C\equiv C-H, H^{-}, and NH_3 are Lewis bases.

<h3>The enthalpy of the reaction : C.226.73 kJ</h3><h3>Further explanation</h3>

Delta H reaction (ΔH) is the amount of heat change between the system and its environment

(ΔH) can be positive (endothermic = requires heat) or negative (exothermic = releasing heat)

The change in enthalpy in the formation of 1 mole of the elements is called enthalpy of formation

Delta H reaction (ΔH) is the difference between product enthalpy and reactant enthalpy (Hp-Hr)

Reaction :

2C + H2 -> C2H2

(ΔH) reaction = (ΔH) product - (ΔH) reactants

(ΔH) reaction = (ΔH) C2H2 - ((ΔH) C + (ΔH) H2)

for free element (ΔH) it has zero value, so (ΔH) C and (ΔH) H2 have zero value

From the available data: Hf (kJ / mol) C2 H2 (g)=  226.73

then

(ΔH) reaction = ΔH) C2H2 - ((ΔH) C + (ΔH) H2)

(ΔH) reaction = 226.73 - (0 + 0)

(ΔH) reaction = 226.73 (answer C)

When polonium-210 emits an alpha particle, the child isotope has an atomic mass of
Sergeeva-Olga [200]

Answer: The child isotope has an atomic mass of 206.

Explanation:

Alpha decay : When a larger nuclei decays into smaller nuclei by releasing alpha particle. In this process, the mass number and atomic number is reduced by 4 and 2 units respectively.

General representation of an element is given as:   _Z^A\textrm{X}

where,

Z represents Atomic number

A represents Mass number

X represents the symbol of an element

General representation of alpha decay :

_Z^A\textrm{X}\rightarrow _{Z-2}^{A-4}Y+_2^4\alpha

_{84}^{210}\textrm{Po}\rightarrow_{82}^{206}\textrm{Pb}+_2^4\textrm{He}
