A reduction reaction involves either the addition of hydrogen or removal of:
Marina CMI [18]

Reduction involves the either the addition of hydrogen and removal of oxygen.

What is reduction?

Reduction involves the removal of oxygen.

This implies there is a loss of oxygen in reduction.

This can be represented in the extraction of iron from it ores.

Fe₂O₃ + 3CO → 2Fe + 3CO₂

Reduction is also the addition of hydrogen. This implies it is the gain of hydrogen.

For example

CH₃CHO → CH₃CH₂OH

Which hydrogen atom would be most easily extracted by a bromine atom?
DerKrebs [107]
The proton which is easily abstracted in 1-Benzyl-3-propylbenzene is the proton which is present on carbon atom in between two phenyl rings, or the central carbon which is shared by two benzene rings.

This easy abstraction of proton is due to its high acidity. Remember those species are always more acidic whose conjugate base is stable. Like the acidity of carboxylic acid is due to stability of the acetate ion.

In our case the stability of conjugate base arises due to stability of negative ion due to resonance. As shown below, the negative charge can delocalize on both rings.

I have shown the resonance of negative ion on both Phenyl rings with Blue and Pink colors.

. The ring shape of the Cartwheel Galaxy is due to:
dlinn [17]

The ring shape of the Cartwheel Galaxy is due to collisions with another galaxy.

What causes the ring shape of the Cartwheel Galaxy?

The unusual shape of the Cartwheel Galaxy is due to a collision with a smaller galaxy. The recent star burst has lighted up the Cartwheel rim which has a diameter larger than that of the Milky Way galaxy in which our planet exists. The Cartwheel Galaxy is a lenticular ring galaxy which is about 500 million light-years away. This galaxy was discovered by Fritz Zwicky in the year 1941.

So we can conclude that the ring shape of the Cartwheel Galaxy is due to collisions with another galaxy.

A solution of zinc nitrate is added to a solution of magnesium sulfate. express your answer as a chemical equation. identify all
alexandr402 [8]

Answer is: no reaction occurs, because all salts are soluble in water.

Balanced chemical reaction:

Zn(NO₃)₂(aq) + MgSO₄(aq)→ Mg(NO₃)₂(aq) + ZnSO₄(aq).

Ionic reaction:

Zn²⁺(aq) + 2NO₃⁻(aq) + Mg²⁺(aq) + SO₄²⁻(aq) → Mg²⁺(aq) + 2NO₃⁻(aq) + Zn²⁺ + SO₄²⁻(aq).

This chemical reaction is double displacement reaction - cations and anions of the two reactants switch places and form two new compounds.
