I have attached an image of the IR spectrum required to answer this question.

Looking at the IR, we can look for any clear major stretches that stand out. Immediately, looking at the spectrum, we see an intense stretch at around 1700 cm⁻¹. A stretch at this frequency is due to the C=O stretch of a carbonyl. Therefore, we know our answer must contain a carbonyl, so it could still be a ketone, aldehyde, carboxylic, ester, acid chloride or amide. However, if we look in the 3000 range of the spectrum, we see some unique pair of peaks at 2900 and 2700. These two peaks are characteristic of the sp² C-H stretch of the aldehyde.

Therefore, we can already conclude that this spectrum is due to an aldehyde based on the carbonyl stretch and the accompanying sp² C-H stretch.

What would happen if evaporation does not take place in nature
ivann1987 [24]

Answer:

Evaporation is an important process in the water cycle. If there is no evaporation, there is no moisture in the atmosphere. As a result, clouds cannot form and there is no rain. Plants do not receive natural water and die. And there would be no rivers or lakes because their water comes from evaporation via rain or snow.

How many moles are there in 5.699 liters of neon gas at STP? Express your answer with the appropriate significant figures and un
Svetradugi [14.3K]

Answer:

The number of moles: 0.25442 moles

Explanation:

One mole of Neon gas will occupy 22.4 at STP.

The chemical equation below is correctly balanced.
DIA [1.3K]

Answer:

44.8 L of O2 will react (option D)

Explanation:

Step 1: Data given

Number of moles of SO2 = 4.00 moles

STP = Pressure = 1 atm  and temperature = 273 K

Step 2: The balanced equation

2 SO2(g) + O2(g) → 2 SO3(g)

Step 3: Calculate moles of O2

For 2 moles SO2, we need 1 mol O2 to produce 2 moles SO3

For 4.00 moles SO2 we need 4.00 / 2 = 2.00 moles O2

Step 4: Calculate volume of O2

For 1 mol we have a volume of 22.4 L

V = (n*R*T)/ p

V = (2.00 * 0.08206 * 273)/p

V = 44.8 L

For 2.00 moles we have a volume of 2*22.4 = 44.8 L

44.8 L of O2 will react (option D)
