Answer:2

Explanation:because the compound is CaI2, Ca needs to lose 2 electrons and I needs to gain 1 electron to reach an octet and so there will be 2 I atoms therefore 2 electron transfer

A compound is 52.0% zinc 9.6% carbon and 38.4% oxygen. Calculate the empirical formula of the compound.
skad [1K]

Answer:

So a compound is 52% Zinc(Zn), 9.6% Carbon(C), and 38.4% Oxygen (O). Let’s first start off by assuming that we have 100 g of this compound. This means that we have 52 g of Zinc, 9.6 g of Carbon, and 38.4 g of Oxygen.Zinc = 65.38 g/molCarbon = 12 g/molOxygen = 16 g/molThis means we have:52 g of Zn(1 mol Zn/65.38 g of Zn) ≈0.8 mol of Zn.9.6 g of C(1 mol C/12 g of C) = 0.8 mol of C38.4 g of O(1 mol of O/16 g of O) = 2.4 mol of O.

Explanation:

What we want to do next is divide each element by the common factor of all of them, which is 0.8. In most cases, you divide each element by the element with the least amount of moles. After we divide each by 0.8, you’ll notice you have 1 Zn, 1 C, and 3 O. This gives you the empirical formula of ZnCO3, or Zinc Carbonate.

In 1911, Ernest Rutherford tested the atomic model existing at the time by shooting a beam of alpha particles (42He, helium nucl
STatiana [176]

Answer:

At the time of Rutherford's experiment, the accepted model for the atom was the Thomson plum-pudding model of the atom, in which the atom consists of a "sphere" of positive charge distributed all over the sphere, with tiny negative particles (the electrons) inside this sphere.

In his experiment, Rutherford shot alpha particles towards a very thin sheet of gold foil. He observed the following things:

1- Most of the alpha particles went undeflected, but

2- Some of them were scattered at very large angles

3- A few of them were even reflected back to their original directions

Observations 2) and 3) were incompatible with Thomson model of the atom: in fact, if this model was true, all the alpha particle should have gone undeflected, or scattered at very small angles. Instead, due to observations 2) and 3), it was clear that:

- The positive charge of the atom was all concentred in a tiny nucleus

- Most of the mass of the atom was also concentrated in the nucleus

So, Rutherford experiment lead to a change in the atomic model of the atom, as it was clear that the plum-pudding model was no longer adequate to describe the results of Rutherford's experiment.

Does mint actually cool things down
PtichkaEL [24]
The cooling of a mint is just a sensation if you were to put mints into warm water the water would remain warm because it is just a cooling sensation. I hope this helps:)

Why does the melting of the polar ice caps facilitate the absorption of CO2 by ocean waters?
Korvikt [17]

hi brainly user! ૮₍ ˃ ⤙ ˂ ₎ა

⊱┈────────────────────────⊰

Answer:

The melting of the caps increases the concentration of CO2 in the water, making its absorption faster.

⊱┈────────────────────────⊰

Explanation:

CO2 absorption

The polar caps of our planet have in their composition several elements, among them the CO2 that is absorbed by the atmosphere. Cold waters, which are present in the Arctic, have an easier time absorbing CO2 compared to other waters.

When glaciers melt, the CO2 that is present in the mixture is dissolved in the ocean, increasing its concentration. The cold waters that came from the ice caps increase the absorption of CO2.
