Answer:  The correct answer is :  D) more than 30 seconds

Explanation:  This experiment is carried out in order to study the actions of the catalase enzyme on hydrogen peroxide. Catalase is extracted from potatoes and stored on ice. 1%, 5%, 10% and 15% hydrogen peroxide solutions are prepared. Filter papers are soaked with the catalase and then placed inside each hydrogen peroxide solution. Then the time it takes for the filter paper discs to float from the bubbles that are produced is measured.

A solution of rubbing alcohol is 68.6 % (v/v) isopropanol in water. How many milliliters of isopropanol are in a 88.2 mL sample
KonstantinChe [14]

From the information given, the total volume of  rubbing alcohol is 88.2 ml

68.6 % of this volume is isopropanol.

We will assume 88.2 ml represents 100% volume, so the volume of water will be 31.4 %

The volume of isopropanol is

68.6/100 x 88.2 → 0.686 × 88.2 = 60.505 ml

The volume of isopropanol is 60.5 ml.

Volume of water will be 88.20 - 60.5 = 27.7 ml

(27.7 / 88.2 × 100 = 31.4% )

Adding 60.5 ml of isopropanol to 27.7 ml of water to make up 88.2 ml will give 68.6 % v/v isopropanol to water  solution.

Consider the reaction pathway graph below.
san4es73 [151]
Hello!

If the reaction could be made to go faster B. The hill would be shorter.

The "hill" is called Activation Energy. It is the energy of the activated intermediate compound needed to complete the reaction. Catalysts are substances that don't intervene in the reaction which speed up the rate of a given reaction by lowering the Activation Energy giving alternate reaction pathways with lower-energy intermediates. If the reaction could be made to go faster with the use of a catalyst, then the Activation Energy would be lower and the "hill" would be shorter.

Have a nice day!
