A pressure gage at the inlet to a gas compressor indicates that the gage pressure is 40.0 kPa. Atmospheric pressure is 1.01 bar.

The absolute pressure at the exit is 6.5 times the absolute pressure at the inlet. What is the absolute pressure of the gas at the inlet and what is the gage pressure of the gas at the exit?

Answer:

Given

inlet Pga =40kpa = 40000pa

Patm=1.01bar = 1.01 x 100000pa =101000pa

exit Pab= 6.5 (inlet Pab)

But generally, Pab = Patm + Pga

1. the absolute pressure of the gas at the inlet, inlet Pab?

inlet Pab = Patm + inlet Pga

            = 101000pa + 40000pa = 141kpa

the absolute pressure of the gas at the inlet, inlet Pab = 141kpa

2. the gage pressure of the gas at the exit? exit Pga?

exit Pab = Patm + exit Pga

exit Pga = exit Pab - Patm

             = (6.5 x 141kpa) - 101kpa

              = 815.5kpa

the gage pressure of the gas at the exit exit Pga=815.5kpa

Which of the following identifies one factor that causes conventional tillage to actually be good for the environment?
Brums [2.3K]

Answer:

Farmers who use conventional tillage use compost more than other farmers.

Explanation:

Convectional tillage is good to the environment because it attains the following;

  • It increases porosity of the soil
  • It loosens the soil thus allowing proper root growth and air exchange
  • It is an effective way to incorporate manure and break sod fields
  • Tilled soils warm faster in spring

The Torricelli's theorem states that the (velocity—pressure-density) of liquid flowing out of an orifice is proportional to the
Sergeeva-Olga [200]

Answer:

The correct answer is 'velocity'of liquid flowing out of an orifice is proportional to the square root of the 'height' of liquid above the center of the orifice.

Explanation:

Torricelli's theorem states that

v_{exit}=\sqrt{2gh}

where

v_{exit} is the velocity with which the fluid leaves orifice

h is the head under which the flow occurs.

Thus we can compare the given options to arrive at the correct answer

Velocity is proportional to square root of head under which the flow occurs.

A 4KJ of energy is supplied to a machine used for lifting a mass. The force required is 800N. If the machine has an efficiency o
navik [9.2K]

The height at which the mass will be lifted is; 3 meters

How to utilize efficiency of a machine?

Formula for efficiency is;

η = useful output energy/input energy

We are given

η = 60% = 0.6

Input energy = 4 KJ = 4000 J

Thus;

0.6 = useful output energy/4000

useful output energy = 0.6 * 4000

useful output energy = 2400 J

Work done in lifting mass(useful output energy) = force * distance moved

Useful output energy = 800 * h

where h is height to lift mass

Thus;

800h = 2400

h = 2400/800

h = 3 meters
