What is the pH of a 2.2 M solution of HClO4?

Chemistry

Since HClO4 is a strong acid it will completely dissociate in solution.

HClO4 + H2O --> H3O+ + ClO4-

Therefore, your concentration of HClO4 will be equal to your amount of H3O+, the conjugate acid in solution.

The Ka expression is as follows:

Ka= [H3O+][ClO4-] / [HClO4]

So you know that -log [H3O+] gets you pH, so just plug in [2.2] as your concentration of H3O+ and your answer should be -.34 pH

Please help me with this!: Beverages such as pop and fizzy water are carbonated by dissolved CO2. Explain in detail why pop will
brilliants [131]

Answer:

If the cap is left off, some of the dissolved CO2 can escape as gas from the bottle, making the pop go flat faster (less dissolved CO2 in pop). If the cap is placed tightly, the gaseous CO2 cannot readily escape the bottle thus your pop won't go flat

Explanation:

If the cap is left off, some of the dissolved CO2 can escape as gas from the bottle, making the pop go flat faster. If the cap is placed tightly, the gaseous CO2 cannot readily escape the bottle thus your pop won't go flat.

Just some fun related concept:

A similar concept comes into play for the reason behind why pop tastes better in fridge then just keeping at normal temperature. This is because gases tend to have high solubility at cold temperatures thus CO2 is more readily dissolved in fridge than outside room temperature which is why it tastes great!

How much heat do you need to raise the temperature of 100g of aluminum from 30 C to 150 C
SVEN [57.7K]

Answer:

Q = 10.8 KJ

Explanation:

Given data:

Mass of Al= 100g

Initial temperature = 30°C

Final temperature = 150°C

Heat required = ?

Solution:

Specific heat of Al = 0.90 j/g.°C

Formula:

Q = m.c. ΔT

Q = amount of heat absorbed or released

m = mass of given substance

c = specific heat capacity of substance

ΔT = change in temperature

ΔT = 150°C - 30°C

ΔT = 120°C

Q = 100g×0.90 J/g.°C× 120°C

Q = 10800 J       (10800j×1KJ/1000 j)

Q = 10.8 KJ
