The power dissipated in a resistor is given by P = V 2 / R , which means power decreases if resistance increases. Yet this power

is also given by P = I 2R , which means power increases if resistance increases. Explain why there is no contradiction here?

Answer:

Explanation:

Power Dissipated in a resistor is given by two methods i.e.

P=\frac{V^2}{R}  and

P=I^2\cdot R

where V=Potential\ difference

R=resistor

I=current

both formula gives Power but Former is used when voltage is constant i.e. when resistors are in parallel and the later is used when the resistor are in series .

Though P=\frac{V^2}{R} can also be used in series but we have to calculate the Potential drop across each resistor then we can apply the formula.

Similar is with P=I^2R

First we have to calculate current through each resistor then we can apply the Formula

Answer:

5..No work is being done.

Explanation:

Hello!

Remember that the concept of work is defined as the force required to move a certain body distance, it is calculated as the product of force by distance.

therefore, the work required to raise the box is 150J.

However, the work required to keep the box lifted without moving is zero since although the box has a force due to the weight it does not move.

a boy is riding a bicycle at a velocity of 5.0 m/s. he applies the brakes and uniformly decelerates to a stop at a rate of 2.5 m
JulijaS [17]

The working equation would be Vf (final velocity) = Vi (initial velocity) + a (acceleration) t (time). The given data are the initial velocity (5.0 m/s), acceleration (-2.5 m/s^2, negative since it is said to decelerate) and the final velocity (0 m/s, since it will put to a stop). The time would be 2 seconds.

Water flows at 0.850 m/s from a hot water heater, through a 450-kPa pressure regulator. The pressure in the pipe supplying an up
grin007 [14]

Answer:

The velocity is  v_2= 0.45 \ m/s

Explanation:

From the question we are told that

      The initial speed of the hot water is  v_1 = 0.85 \ m/s

     The pressure from the heater  P_1  =  450 \ KPa = 450 *10^{3} \ Pa

      The height of the hot water before flowing is  h_1 = 0 \ m

      The height of bathtub above the heater is h_2 = 3.70 \ m

       The pressure in the pipe is P_2 =  414 KPa = 414 *10^{3} \ Pa

       The density of water is \rho =  1000 \ kg/m^3

Apply Bernoulli equation

      P_1 + \rho gh_1 +\frac{1}{2} \rho v_1^2  =  \rho g h_2 + \frac{1}{2}\rho v_2 ^2

Substituting values

     (450 *10^{3}) + (1000 * 9.8 * 0) + (0.5 * 1000 * 0.85^2)  =  (1000 * *9.8*3.70) + (0.5*1000*v_2^2 )

=>   v_2^2 =  \frac{ (450 *10^{3}) + (1000 * 9.8 *0 ) + (0.5 * 1000 * 0.85^2) -[ (1000 * *9.8*3.70) ]}{0.5*1000}

=>   v_2= \sqrt{ \frac{ (450 *10^{3}) + (1000 * 9.8 * 0) + (0.5 * 1000 * 0.85^2) -[ (1000 * *9.8*3.70) ]}{0.5*1000}}

=>    v_2= 0.45 \ m/s
