Sand is porous . . . so water can go through it. I dare you try a little experiment. Go to the beach with a Styrofoam cup, fill it up with sand (not the stuff all muddied up with twigs and algae, but the good stuff just a few feet in the water), then fill the cup up with water, then poke a hole in the bottom . . . out will come the water and not much of the sand . . . why? . . . because water can go through sand

Water can go through sand because sand is porous which means it does let water through :) hoped it helped if it did don't forget to say thanks !

How many molecules of sodium oxide will be created if 187 grams of oxygen reacts with excess sodium? 4na o2 -> 2na2o
Leona [35]

Molecules of sodium oxide will be created if 187 grams of oxygen reacts with excess sodium will be 7.04 × 10 ²⁴ molecules.

Sodium oxide is Na₂O which is formed due to the reaction of sodium and oxygen.

Given,

Balanced chemical equation is :

         4 Na(s) + O₂ (g) → 2Na₂O (s)

Now, the Mole ratio of O₂ and Na₂O is 1 mol O₂: 2 mol Na₂O

Molar mass O₂ = 32.00 g/mol

Now, let's find out the Number of moles of O₂ present in 187 grams of oxygen,

Number of moles of O₂ = Given mass in grams / molar mass of O₂

Number of moles of O₂ = 187 g / 32.00 g/mol

Number of moles of O₂ = 5.844 mol

Since, we know the Proportion is 1 mol O₂ : 2 mol Na₂O

Now, Number of moles of Na₂O required is,

2 mol Na₂O / 1 mol O₂ = 5.844 mol O₂ / x

x = 5.844 mol O₂ (2 mol Na₂O / 1 mol O₂)

x = 11.688 mol Na₂O

To calculate the Number of molecules of sodium oxide,

Number of molecules = Number of moles × Avogadro's number

Number of molecules = 11.688 mol × 6.022 × 10²³ molecules/mol =

Number of molecules = 7.04 × 10 ²⁴ molecules

Hence, the Number of molecules of sodium oxide required is 7.04 × 10²⁴ molecules.

Part A. Two containers, one at 305 K and the other at 295 K, are placed in contact with each other. 1. 1 J of heat flows from th
posledela

Answer:

0.00011 JK.

The process does NOT violate the second law of thermodynamics

Explanation:

The following parameters are given which are going to help in solving for the change in entropy of the system. The term "entropy'' simply means the degree of disorderliness of a system.

=> The temperature of container A = 305 K, the temperature of container B = 295 K and the amount of heat generated when the containers are placed in contact with each other = 1. 1 J.

The change in entropy of the hot container = -(1/305) = - 0.00328 J/K.

The change in entropy of the cold container = 1/295 = 0.00339 J/K.

Therefore, the change in the entropy of the system = - 0.00328 J/K + 0.00339 J/K = 0.00011 JK.

Note that the change in entropy of the system gives a positive value. Hence, this process does not violate the second law of thermodynamics.

The process does NOT violate the second law of thermodynamics.

What is the Lewis dot diagram structure for PI2F
Brut [27]

Answer:

Please find attached the completed Lewis dot diagram structure for PI₂F

Explanation:

The number of valence electrons are;

Phosphorus = 5 Electrons

Iodine = 2 × 7 electrons = 14 electrons

Chlorine = 7 electrons

The total number of valence electrons = 14 + 7 + 5 = 26 electrons

2) We draw the symbol that represents the basic (general) structure of the molecule as follows;

The sheared electron pair are represented by single bond lines

3) We complete the octet structures round the fluorine and the iodine atoms as attached showing 18 electrons plus 6 shared electron pairs, with a maximum from step 2 to give a total of (18 + 6) 24 electron pairs

4) We add the 2 unaccounted valence electron on the phosphorus atom to give it the stable octet structure, which gives the completed Lewis structure

What are the uses of polythene?
Crank
Polyethylene is synthesized from ethylene which is a compound derived from natural gas or petroleum. It’s essentially a thermoplastic, implying that it can be molten and remolded into the desired shape making it reusable and cost-effective. Of all the different kinds of plastics produced around the world, polyethylene is the most common and significant.

Polyethylene is manufactured in three different forms namely:

Low Density Polyethylene (LDPE),High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) andLinear Low Density Polyethylene (LLDPE),

Each of these three plastics has different applications ranging from containers, packaging and films to buckets and bottles.

Hope it helps you...

When 3.00 g of sulfur are combined with 3.00 g of oxygen, 6.00 g of sulfur dioxide (SO2) are formed. What mass of oxygen would b
Drupady [299]
Actually, we can answer the problem even without the first statement. All we have to do is write the reaction for the production of sulfur trioxide.

2 S + 3 O₂ → 2 SO₃

The stoichiometric calculations is as follows:

7 g S * 1 mol/32.06 g S = 0.218 mol S
Moles O₂ needed = 0.218 mol S * 3 mol O₂/2 mol S = 0.3275 mol O₂
Since the molar mas of O₂ is 32 g/mol,
Mass of O₂ needed = 0.3275 mol O₂ * 32 g/mol = 10.48 g O₂
