Which has the larger kinetic energy, a 10 g bullet fired at 400 m/s or a 80 kg bowling ball rolled at 6.5 m/s ?
mixer [17]
Formulae for Kinetic energy is:
Kinetic Energy= 1/2xmassx(velocity)^2

For comparison we need to have same units,thus we convert 10g into Kg.
10g/1000=0.01Kg

Input the value of bullet in the formulae;
Kinetic Energy= 1/2x0.01kgx(400)^2
K.E=800J

Input value of the ball:
Kinetic Energy=1/2x80kgx(6.5)^2
K.E=1690J

Which means that th Energy of the ball is more than the bullet.

A force of 100N is applied to an area of 100mm².what is the pressure exerted on the area in N/m².
Dmitry_Shevchenko [17]

Answer:

P = 1000000[Pa] = 1000 [kPa]

Explanation:

To solve this problem we must use the definition of pressure, which is equal to the relationship of force over area.

P=F/A

where:

P = pressure [Pa] (units of pascals)

F = force = 100 [N]

A = area = 100 [mm²]

But first we must convert the units from square millimeters to square meters.

A=100[mm^{2}]*\frac{1^{2} m^{2} }{1000^{2}mm^{2}  } =0.0001[m^{2} ]

Now replacing:

P=100/0.0001\\P=1000000[Pa]

At its natural resting length, a muscle is close to its optimallength for producing force. As the muscle contracts, the maximumf
lesantik [10]

Answer:

Figure E is the correct representation of the first part of the motion. When in a hanging position from the chin-up bar, the bicep muscles are stretched beyond their normal length already. So at this point they are at the peak of their capacity and you are at rest (this corresponds to the velocity v = 0 at t = 0). On contracting the bicep muscles and pulling your whole body up, you begin to gain speed and v increases. This increase in velocity is exponential. Soon the bicep muscles contract up to 80% their normal length reducing the force they can produce to keep you rising up to zero. The velocity change happens because the body is accelerating and the muscles can still supply a net force to lift you up. The acceleration is present because of this net force. The moment this force reduces to zero, the acceleration too reduces to zero. (From Newton's second law of motion). This reduction in acceleration is responsible for the reduction of the curvature of the v curve in figure E above. The point where the velocity becomes horizontal corresponds to the point where the muscles reach their maximum contraction unit and can supply no more net force and as a result no acceleration. This further results inba constant velocity which is the flat nature of the curve seen in diagram E.

A proton moves with a speed of 1.00 x 106 m/s perpendicular to a magnetic field, B. As a result, the proton moves in circle of r
Softa [21]

Answer:

0.0109 m ≈ 10.9 mm

Explanation:

proton speed = 1 * 10^6 m/s

radius in which the proton moves = 20 m

determine the radius of the circle in which an electron would move

we will apply the formula for calculating the centripetal force for both proton and electron ( Lorentz force formula)

For proton :

Mp*V^2 / rp  = qp *VB   ∴  rp = Mp*V / qP*B    ---------- ( 1 )

For electron:

re = Me*V/ qE * B -------- ( 2 )

Next: take the ratio of equations 1 and 2

re / rp = Me / Mp                                 ( note: qE = qP = 1.6 * 10^-19 C )

∴ re ( radius of the electron orbit )

= ( Me / Mp ) rp

= ( 9.1 * 10^-31 / 1.67 * 10^-27 ) 20

= ( 5.45 * 10^-4 ) * 20

= 0.0109 m ≈ 10.9 mm
