Answer: The cylinder

Explanation:

Among all other solid shapes, the sphere has the smallest area for a given volume.

By experiment, the ratio of the radius of a sphere to a cylinder of equal volume is less than 1.

Recall;

That the Rate of transfer of convective heat (Q) = h × A ×change in temperature.

Where ,

h= the co efficient of convective heat transfer

A= the cross sectional area.

As such, since the sphere has a smaller surface area relative to the cylinder, the sphere transfers heat slower than the cylinder.

Therefore, if the sphere and cylinder are exposed to convection in the same environment, then, the cylinder cools faster.

PS; the more the Area, the higher the rate of heat transfer and vice versa.

White light falls on a yellow filter,if:
riadik2000 [5.3K]

Answer:

all colours are absorbed except for the colour of the filter.

Explanation:

When white light passes through a coloured filter, all colours are absorbed except for the colour of the filter. For example, an orange filter transmits orange light but absorbs all the other colours. If white light is shone on an orange filter, only the orange wavelengths will be observed by the human eye.

A concave mirror has a focal length of 13.5 cm. This mirror forms an image located 37.5 cm in front of the mirror. Find the magn
77julia77 [94]

Explanation:

It is given that,

Focal length of the concave mirror, f = -13.5 cm

Image distance, v = -37.5 cm (in front of mirror)

Let u is the object distance. It can be calculated using the mirror's formula as :

\dfrac{1}{v}+\dfrac{1}{u}=\dfrac{1}{f}

\dfrac{1}{u}=\dfrac{1}{f}-\dfrac{1}{v}

\dfrac{1}{u}=\dfrac{1}{(-13.5)}-\dfrac{1}{(-37.5)}

u = -21.09 cm

The magnification of the mirror is given by :

m=\dfrac{-v}{u}

m=\dfrac{-(-37.5)}{(-21.09)}

m = -1.77

So, the magnification produced by the mirror is (-1.77). Hence, this is the required solution.

A tall, cylindrical chimney falls over when its base is ruptured. Treat the chimney as a thin rod of length 53.2 m. At the insta
rusak2 [61]
From an energy balance, we can use this formula to solve for the angular speed of the chimney

ω^2 = 3g / h sin θ

Substituting the given values:
ω^2 = 3 (9.81) / 53.2 sin 34.1
ω^2 = 0.987 /s

The formula for radial acceleration is:
a = rω^2

So,
a = 53.2 (0.987) = 52.494 /s^2

The linear velocity is:
v^2 = ar
v^2 = 52.949 (53.2) = 2816.887

The tangential acceleration is:
a = r v^2
a = 53.2 (2816.887)
a = 149858.378 m/s^2

If the tangential acceleration is equal to g:
g = r^2 3g / sin θ
Solving for θ
θ = 67°
