A mineral is a naturally occurring, inorganic solid with a definite chemical composition and a crystalline structure formed by geological processes.

A rock is an aggregate of one or more minerals. It may also contain organic remains and mineraloids apart from regular mineral formations. Since rocks vary in their mineral and chemical composition, they are classified according to the process of their formation.

Two waiters are trying to get through a single door of a kitchen. One pushes on one side of a door 0.567 m from the hinge with a
NISA [10]

Answer:

275.5 N

Explanation:

F_{1} = Force on one side of the door by first waiter = 257 N

F_{2} = Force on other side of the door by second waiter

r_{1} = distance of first force by first waiter from hinge = 0.567 m

r_{2} = distance of second force by second waiter from hinge = 0.529 m

Since the door does not move. hence the door is in equilibrium

Using equilibrium of torque by force applied by each waiter

r_{1} F_{1} = r_{2} F_{2} \\(0.567) (257) = (0.529) F_{2}\\F_{2} = 275.5 N

The weight of an object on Earth is 350 newtons. On Mars, the same object would weigh 134 newtons. What is the acceleration due
sineoko [7]
W = mg = 350 newton
m = W/g = 350/9.8 = 35.71 kg
on mars
W = mg = 134 newton
g = W/m = 134/35.71 = 3.75 meters/second2

Water flows without friction vertically downward through a pipe and enters a section where the cross sectional area is larger. T
djverab [1.8K]

Answer:

v_{2} will be less than v_{1} and P_{2} will be greater than P_{1}.

Explanation:

As we know from the conservation of mass, the rate at which any amount of fluid mass (m_{1}) is entering in a system is equal to the rate at which the same amount of fluid mass (m_{2}) is leaving the system.

Rate of mass flow can be written as,

m = \rho A v

where \rho is the density of the fluid, A is the area through which the fluid is flowing and v is the velocity of the fluid.

Now, according to the problem, as the density of the fluid does not change, we can write

&& m_{1} = m_{2}\\&or,& \rho A_{1} v_{1} = \rho A_{2} v_{2}\\&or,& \dfrac{v_{2}}{v_{1}} = \dfrac{A_{1}}{A_{2}}

where A_{1} and A_{2} are the cross-sectional areas through which the fluid is passing and v_{1} and v_{2} are the velocities of the fluid through the respective cross-sectional areas.

As according to the problem, A_{2} > A_{1}, so from the above formula v_{2} < v_{1}.

Also we know that fluid pressure is created by the motion of the fluid through any area. When the fluid gains speed, some of its energy is used to move faster in the fluid’s direction of motion. It causes in a lower pressure.

So, as in this case v_{2} < v_{1} the pressure in the large cross-sectional area P_{2} will be greater than the pressure  P_{1} in the small cross sectional area, i.e.,

P_{2} > P_{1}.

Is gas matter? How do you know? Hint: Remember there are 2 things we need to be considered matter.
astra-53 [7]

Answer:

Gas is a state of matter that has no fixed shape and no fixed volume.

In addition to solids and liquids, gases are also a physical state in which matter can occur. All gases have weight. Unlike solids and liquids, gases will occupy the entire container that encloses them.

matter is "anything that has mass and volume (occupies space)

     <em>Gases have mass. The space between gas particles is empty. Gases can be formed as products in chemical reactions. Gas particles can form bonds between them under certain conditions</em>

<em>       Gases have volume which isn't fixed </em>(no fixed volume)<em> and no fixed shape. Gases expand to fill the space available. They can also be compressed into a very small space.</em>

If a cell phone is dropped from a very tall building, how far has the phone fallen after 2.7 seconds, neglecting air resistance?
Zielflug [23.3K]
The free fall of the phone is an uniformly accelerated motion toward the ground, with constant acceleration equal to
g=9.81 m/s^2

So, assuming the downward direction as positive direction of the motion, since the phone starts from rest the distance covered by the phone after a time t is given by
y(t) =  \frac{1}{2}gt^2
And if we substitute t=2.7 s, we find the distance covered:
y(t)=  \frac{1}{2}(9.81 m/s^2)(2.7 s)^2=35.8 m
