The speed of the light for the observers on the Earth appears to be \boxed{c} moving towards the Earth.

Further Explanation:

The speed of the laser beam coming from the spaceship moving away from the Earth at the speed comparable to the speed of light is given by the Einstein’s theory of relativity.

According to the Einstein’s theory, the relative speed observed from the Earth is given as:

u=\dfrac{{{v_{{\text{rel}}}}}}{{1 + \dfrac{{{v_{ship}}\cdot {v_{beam}}}}{{{c^2}}}}}                  ......(1)

Here, u is the speed of light for the observer on the Earth, {v_{{\text{rel}}}} is the relative speed of the light observed from the spaceship,  {v_{ship}}  is the speed of the spaceship, {v_{beam}} is the speed of the laser beam and c is the speed of the light.

The relative speed of the light as observed from the spaceship moving away from Earth is:

{v_{{\text{rel}}}} = {v_{ship}} + {v_{beam}}

Substitute the values of {v_{ship}} and {v_{beam}} in above expression.

\begin{aligned}{v_{{\text{rel}}}} &= 0.7c + \left({ - c}\right)\\&= - 0.3c\\\end{aligned}

Now, substitute the value of {v_{{\text{rel}}}} in equation (1).

\begin{aligned}u&=\dfrac{{ - 0.3c}}{{1 + \dfrac{{0.7c \times\left({ - c}\right)}}{{{c^2}}}}}\\&=\dfrac{{ - 0.3c}}{{1 - 0.7}}\\&=  - c\\\end{aligned}

The negative sign shows that the beam is moving opposite to the direction of motion of the spaceship.

Thus, the speed of the light for the observers on the Earth appears to be \boxed{c} moving towards the Earth.

The rear window in a car is approximately a rectangle, 1.3 m wide and 0.30 m high. The inside rear-view mirror is 0.50 m from th
maria [59]

Answer:

Height of mirror 0.075 m

width of mirror 0.325 m

Explanation:

given data

wide = 1.3 m

high = 0.30 m

driver’s eyes = 0.50 m

rear window = 1.50 m

solution

we take here height / width of the mirror  is

height / width   = \frac{h}{w}   .................1

and

height /width of the window is

height /width  = \frac{h_w}{w_w}   .................2

and

distance of eye / window by the mirror is

distance of eye / window = \frac{x_e}{x_w}      .................3

so here

θ = θi  = θr    ....................4

and  tanθ for vertical is

tanθ  = \frac{h}{x_e}

tanθ  =  \frac{h_w}{(x_e + x_w)}       ....................5

so

h =   h_w \times  \frac{x_e}{(x_e + x_e)}     ....................6

put  here value and we get

h = 0.30 \times  \frac{0.50}{(0.50 + 1.50)}

h = 0.075 m

and

when we take here tanθ for horizontal than it will be

tanθ = \frac{w}{x_e}

tanθ = \frac{w_w}{(x_e + x_w)}       .......................7

so

w = w_w \times  \frac{x_e}{(x_e + x_w)}         ....................8

put here value and we get

w = 1.3 \times  \frac{0.50}{(0.50 + 1.50)}

w = 0.325 m

A stone is thrown vertically upward with an initial speed of 5 m/s. What is the velocity of the stone 3 seconds later?
uysha [10]

Answer:

v_f=-24.4\frac{m}{s}

Explanation:

The acceleration due to gravity is in the downward direction. This means that it will oppose the upward motion of the stone. This will cause the stone to stop and begin to fall. Therefore, the sign of the final velocity is negative, since it is in the downward direction. The final velocity is given by:

v_f=v_0+gt\\v_f=5\frac{m}{s}+(-9.8\frac{m}{s^2})(3s)\\v_f=-24.4\frac{m}{s}

If a magnet could swing freely, what would happen to its north-seeking pole?
maksim [4K]

You clearly identified the pole you're talking about as the
"north-seeking" pole.  Assuming your integrity and sincerity,
we would then naturally expect that pole to seek north, and
point to Earth's north magnetic pole.

I'm confident in this answer also because I have several of
these devices hanging from the ceiling of my office, and I can
attest to the fact that on most clear days, they do in fact point
toward Earth's north magnetic pole.
