The correct answer is B. 6 protons and 8 neutrons

Carbon-14 has same atomic number of 6. It has a nucleon number of 14
Atomic number = proton number = 6
Neutron number = nucleon number - atomic number = 14 - 6 = 8

Hope it helped!

A 0.5 m diameter wagon wheel consists of a thin rim having a mass of 7 kg and six spokes, each with a mass of 1.2 kg. 1.2 kg 7 k
Arte-miy333 [17]

Explanation:

It is given that,

Mass of the rim of wheel, m₁ = 7 kg

Mass of one spoke, m₂ = 1.2 kg

Diameter of the wagon, d = 0.5 m

Radius of the wagon, r = 0.25 m

Let I is the the moment of inertia of the wagon wheel for rotation about its axis.

We know that the moment of inertia of the ring is given by :

I_1=m_1r^2

I_1=7\times (0.25)^2=0.437\ kgm^2

The moment of inertia of the rod about one end is given by :

I_2=\dfrac{m_2l^2}{3}

l = r

I_2=\dfrac{m_2r^2}{3}

I_2=\dfrac{1.2\times (0.25)^2}{3}=0.025\ kgm^2

For 6 spokes, I_2=0.025\times 6=0.15\ kgm^2

So, the net moment of inertia of the wagon is :

I=I_1+I_2

I=0.437+0.15=0.587\ kgm^2

So, the moment of inertia of the wagon wheel for rotation about its axis is 0.587\ kgm^2. Hence, this is the required solution.

An airplane is flying at a speed of 200 m/s in level flight at an altitude of 800 m. A package is to be dropped from the airplan
MArishka [77]

Answer:

2560m or 2.56km (rounded to 3 significant figures)

Explanation:

First, list all known and desired values/variables (initial vertical velocity is 0 as the plane is kept level and vertical acceleration is just gravity):

Vertical \ velocity \ (\frac{m}{s} ) =  u_{v} = 0 \\\\ Horizontal \ velocity \ (\frac{m}{s} ) =  u_{h} = 200\\\\ Vertical \ acceleration \ (\frac{m}{s^{2} } ) =  a_{v} =  9.8 \\\\ Horizontal \ acceleration \ (\frac{m}{s^{2} } ) =  a_{h} =  0 \\\\ Vertical \ displacement \ (m) = s_{v} = 800 \\\\ Horizontal \ displacement \ (m) = s_{h}

The horizontal displacement is going to be the distance travelled, horizontally of course, once the package is released;

First thing to understand is that the vertical and horizontal components are to be dealt with separately because they don't affect each other;

Since there is no horizontal acceleration (ignoring air resistance), we simply require a velocity and time to find the horizontal displacement, using the formula v = d/t (or speed = distance/time);

What we have is the horizontal velocity but we don't have the time taken;

One thing we know is that the time elapsed for the vertical fall of 800m and for the horizontal displacement must be the same;

What we do, therefore, is find the time taken for the vertical displacement using the formula, s = ut + ¹/₂·at², since we know the vertical velocity, height and acceleration:

800 = (0)t + ¹/₂·(9.8)t²

800 = 4.9t²

t² = 163.26...

t = 12.77...

We now have the time taken for the vertical fall and the horizontal displacement, we can use this with the horizontal velocity we know already and get the horizontal displacement:

u_{h} = \frac{s_{h} }{t} \\\\ 200 = \frac{s_{h} }{12.77...} \\\\ s_{h} = 200(12.77...) \\\\ s_{h} = 2555.5...

m_a_m_a [10]

Answer:

The electromagnetic waves appear more blue in color.

Explanation:

Doppler's Effect: When a source moves with respect to the observer the frequency of the wave emitted from the source changes. If the source moves away from the observer, the frequency decreases and wavelength increases and vice versa.

Here the light source is moving towards the observer so the frequency will increase and wavelength will decrease. Thus the spectrum will shift towards the blue part. This is known as blue shift. The light wave will appear blue in color.
