Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

First we should solve the problems inside the bracket (a+x). Since a=8 and x=-10, (a+x) = (8+(-10)). (8+(-10))= (8-10). Then it is only a matter of subtraction and multiplication. (8-10)=(-2). Now we have clear numbers instead of variables, so (-3)(-2)=+6 (since two brackets with no sign in between will multiply the contents inside each other together.). I hope this was helpful!

TL;DR: (-3)(a+x)=(-3)(8+(-10))=(-3)(8-10)=(-3)(-2)=+6.

IF P(A)=1/3, P(B)=2/5, and P(AuB)=3/5, what is P(A^B)?
Bumek [7]

The probability of the union of two events is the sum of their probability, minus the probability of their interserction:

P(A \cup B) = P(A) + P(B) - P(A \cap B)

If we plug the known values into this formula, we have

\dfrac{3}{5} = \dfrac{1}{3} + \dfrac{2}{5} - P(A\cap B)

From which we can deduce

P(A\cap B) = \dfrac{1}{3} + \dfrac{2}{5} - \dfrac{3}{5} = \dfrac{2}{15}

So, the probability of A \setminus B is a bit less than P(A), we have to take away all events that belong to B as well:

P(A \setminus B) = P(A) - P(A\cap B) = \dfrac{1}{3} - \dfrac{2}{15} = \dfrac{1}{5}

Marci bought 4 yards of ribbon for $6 how much should marci expect to pay for 10 yards of the ribbon?
Vinvika [58]
Ok, let's find how much does 1 yard of ribbon cost. Let's divide!

6 / 4 = 1.5

Each yard costs $1.50, so let's multiply that by 101.5 * 10 = 15

Marci will pay $15 for 10 yards of the ribbon.

Exactly 120 tickets were sold for a concert. The tickets cost $12 each for adults, $10 each for seniors, and $6 each for childre
Gemiola [76]
A=adult tickets
c=chlderenticekts
s=sinior tickets

a=c

a+c+s=120
2a+s=120

total made is 1100
12a+6c+10s=1100
sub
a=c
12a+6a+10s=1100
add
18a+10s=1100

multiply first equation by -9 and add to other equation

-18a-9s=-1080
18a+10s=1100 +
0a+s=20

s=20
20 senior tickets were sold
