Answer:

The flow area at the location where the Mach number is 0.9 is 25.24 cm²

Explanation:

Here we have for isentropic flow;

\frac{A}{A^*} = \frac{1}{M}(\frac{2}{k+1} (1+\frac{k-1}{2}M^2))^{(\frac{k+1}{2(k-1)} )

Where:

A = Area of flow = 36 cm²

M = Mach number at section of = 1.8

k = Specific heat ratio = 1.4

A* = Area at the throat

Therefore, plugging the values we get

\frac{36}{A^*} = \frac{1}{1.8}(\frac{2}{1.4+1} (1+\frac{1.4-1}{2}1.8^2))^{(\frac{1.4+1}{2(1.4-1)} ) = 1.439

Therefore, A* = 36/1.439 = 25.01769 cm²

Where the Mach number is 0.9, we have

\frac{A}{25.02} = \frac{1}{0.9}(\frac{2}{1.4+1} (1+\frac{1.4-1}{2}0.9^2))^{(\frac{1.4+1}{2(1.4-1)} ) = 1.009

Therefore A = 25.020× 1.009 = 25.24 cm²

The flow area at the location where the Mach number is 0.9 = 25.24 cm².

A tow truck drags a stalled car along a road. The chain makes an angle of 30???? with the road and the tension in the chain is 1
My name is Ann [436]

Answer: work = 1,305kJ

Explanation:

angle= 30°

force= 1,500N

distance= 1,000m

The formula for work is : Work= force x distance, however there is an angle of 30° between the direction of force applied and the direction of motion, therefore force must be decomposed to its value on the horizontal axis which is the direction of motion by using the cosine of the very angle.

W= F×cos(α)×D

W= 1,500×cos (30)×1,000

W= 1,305kJ ( kilojoules)

When all else remains the same, what effect would decreasing the focal length have on a convex lens?
aniked [119]
<h3>Answer;</h3>

<u>It would make the lens stronger. </u>

<h3>Explanation;</h3>
  • The focal length is the distance between the optical center or the center of the lens to the focal point of a convex or concave lens.
  • The power of the convex lens is lens ability to undertake refraction or bend light. It is given as the reciprocal of focal length.
  • Power of the lens = 1/ f; therefore the smaller the focal length the higher the power and the larger the focal length the lower the power.
  • Thus; decreasing the focal length of a convex lens makes the lens stronger.

The angular displacement of a hoop travels in a circle is 4 rad, the radius of the hoop makes is 0.5m calculate the hoopsTangent
Gnesinka [82]

Hi there!

We can relate linear displacement to angular displacement with the following;

\large\boxed{d = \theta r}

d = tangential/linear displacement (m)

θ = angular displacement (rad)

r = radius (m)

Plug in the givens:

d = (4)(0.5) = \boxed{2.0 m}
