Answer:

Volume of hydrogen gas = 0.1539dm3

Explanation:

Equation of the reaction

Mg(s) + 2HCl --> MgCl2(aq) + H2(g)

Molar concentration of HCl = 0.2mol/dm3

Mass of magnesium = 0.0243g

Volume of HCl = 0.05dm3

No of moles of HCl = Volume * molar concentration

= 0.05 * 0.5

= 0.01mol

No of moles of Magnesium = mass/molecular weight

Molecular weight of Magnesium = 24g/mol

No of moles of magnesium = 0.0243/24

= 0.001013mol

Using stoichiometry,

Since 1 mole of Magnesium metal reacted with 2 moles of HCl acid

HCl is the limiting reagent.

Therefore, 1 mole of hydrogen gas is given off.

0.005 mole of hydrogen is given off.

Using ideal gas law, PV = nRT

Volume = (0.005 * 0.0821 * 300)/0.8

= 0.1539dm3

A scientist measures out equal volumes and concentrations of hydrochloric acid and sodium hydroxide solutions. When mixed, these
olasank [31]

Answer:

Neutral solution is formed.

Explanation:

When the hydrochloric acid and sodium hydroxide which is a strong base are combined together, it produces sodium chloride which is a salt and water. This solution is known as Neutral solution because the solution do not have the characteristics or properties of either an acid or a base. If the concentration of one of the reactant is higher as compared to another reactant so the product has the characteristics of that reactant.

We must __________ forces to calculate net force if the forces are going in OPPOSITE directions.
Virty [35]

Answer:

subtract

Explanation:

To find the net force of two bodies going in opposite directions, we must subtract the forces this is because they are not additive forces.

  • The net force is the resultant force acting on a body.
  • This resultant force is the single force that will produce the same effects as all given forces.
  • When forces are directed oppositely on a body, they are subtracted from each other to find the net force.
