A 0.100 M solution of chloroacetic acid 1ClCH2COOH2 is 11.0% ionized. Using this information, calculate 3ClCH2COO-4, 3H 4, 3ClCH
bearhunter [10]

Answer:

[CICH2COOH] = 0.089 M

[CICH2COO-] = 0.011 M

[H+] = 0.011 M

Ka = 1.36 x 10^-3

Explanation:

The reaction

CICH2COOH  ⇄ H+ (aq) + CICH2COO- (aq)

The initial concentration of CICH2COOH is 0.10 M , chloroacetic acid is 11.0% ionized.

let us calculate Ka

First , find change in concentration

since , 11% ionized

change in concentration = 0.10 X 11% = 0.011 M

Initial Concentration of CICH2COOH = 0.10 M

change in concentration of CICH2COOH = - 0.011 M

Equilibrium Concentration of CICH2COOH = 0.10 M - 0.011 M = 0.089 m

Initial Concentration of CICH2COO- = 0 M

change in concentration of CICH2COO- = + 0.011 M

Equilibrium Concentration of CICH2COO- = 0.011 M

Initial Concentration of H+ = 0 M

change in concentration of H+ = + 0.011 M

Equilibrium Concentration of H+ = 0.011 M

Therefore,

[CICH2COOH] = 0.089 M

[CICH2COO-] = 0.011 M

[H+] = 0.011 M

Ka = [H+][CICH2COO-] /[CICH2COOH]

Ka = (0.011 * 0.011) / (0.089)

Ka = 1.36 x 10^-3

How many grams are there in 6.21 moles of CaCl2? #1 I am not sure if it's right and please explain .
beks73 [17]
Rearrange the equation n=M÷Mr. Where n = the number of moles. M= the mass in grams. And Mr = the molecular mass of the substance.
Since you are working out mass use the equation M= n x Mr. So you have
6.21 × 111 (molecular mass of CaCl2).
This will give you the answer 689.31 grams which would be your final answer.

Which of the following statements correctly describe ground-state electron configurations?
polet [3.4K]

The ground state electronic configuration has the lowest energy distribution of the electrons. correct option is (A).

The energy associated to an electron is that of its orbital. The energy of configuration is often approximated as the sum of the energy of each electron, neglecting the electron electron interactions.

The configuration that corresponds to the lowest electronic energy is called the ground state. Any other configuration is an excited state.

As an example, the ground state configuration of the sodium atom is 1s2 2s2 2p6 3s1, as deduced from Aufbau principle.

The ph of a 0.24 m solution of dimethylamine is 12.01. calculate the kb value for dimethylamine.
vlada-n [284]
1- First we will get the value of POH from:

PH + POH = 14

and we have PH = 12.01

∴ POH = 14 - 12.01 = 1.99

2- Then we need to get the concentration of OH:

when POH = -㏒[OH]

           1.99 = -㏒[OH]

∴[OH] = 0.01 M

now we have the concentration at Equ by subtracting from the initial concentration of OH  = 0.24 M

∴ [OH] = 0.24 - 0.01 = 0.23 M

∴ Kb = (0.01)^2 /  0.22977 M

∴ Kb value = 4.4 x 10^-4

Rusting of nail are chemical change or physical change and say why
Svetach [21]

Answer:

Explanation:

‘it’s a chemical change because this may seem like a decomposition reaction because it seems like the nail is decomposing and falling apart.
