Answer:

Membrane-bound proteins that use metabolic energy to move ions across the plasma membrane are known as ion pumps and transporters. Pumps creating a membrane potential across the biological membrane which helping ions to move against a concentration gradient.

Ion pumps are classified into two types based on their method which they are using to move:

1) Primary active transport: They are trans-membrane ATpases, for transport ions up a concentration gradient they hydrolyze the ATP to produce energy.

2) Secondary active transport: They transport the molecules across the cell membrane through the electrochemical gradient generated by pumping out of the cell.

How can a pure white mouse help determine the genotype of a black mouse? (Hint: We cannot see genotype but we can see difference
sattari [20]

Answer:

A white mouse is purely recessive, and will produce black offspring if the other mouse contributes a black gene.

Explanation:

If Bb then the offspring will be 50% Bb and 50% bb. This is called a test cross, where we use a recessive to determine the genotype of a dominant phenotype.

When Ashleigh inquired about her family's medical history, she found out that Uncle Albert's mother (Ashleigh's grandmother) als
Stels [109]

The sickle cell pattern based on the family history of Ashleigh isan:

 • Autosomal recessive pattern

Based on the given question, we cam see that in the medical history of Ashleigh's family, most of them have had the sickle cell disease which includes her grandmother, one of her uncle's six children has it too, but her father and grandfather did not have the disease.

With this in mind, the inheritance of the sickle cell disease in the family of Ashleigh is one which is autosomal recessive as it affects some people and doesn't affect others because of the pairing of the chromosome which contains the sickle cell trait.
