Two musicians are playing the same instruments. The first one emits the sound with correct wavelength 58 cm while the second one

is off, and the wavelength is 5 mm longer.
a) What is the frequency of the beats when they play together?

Answer:

Explanation:

Given

Wavelength of first musician \lambda _1=58\ cm

Wavelength of second musician \lambda _2=58.5\ cm

Frequency of first musician \nu _1=\frac{v}{\lambda _1}

where v=velocity of sound

\nu _1=\frac{330}{0.58}=568.96\approx 569\ Hz

\nu _2=\frac{330}{0.585}=564.102\ Hz

Frequency of beat \nu _1-\nu _2=4.898\ Hz

(b)If beat frequency is reduced to 1 Hz then

|\nu _1-\nu_2|=1

569-\nu_2=\pm 1

\nu _2=570 or 568\ Hz

for \nu _2=568\ Hz

\lambda _2=58.09\ cm

\nu _2=570\ Hz

\lambda _2=57.89\ cm

hodyreva [135]
A).  Convection is heating the soup in the pot.
When you stick the spoon into the hot soup,
conduction heats the spoon all the way up to the end.

b).  Water conducts heat a little bit.
But convection is much more responsible for the
uniform distribution of temperature in the kiddie pool.

c).  The heat from the metal bench conducts directly

d).  You feel the heat on your face ... but not on the back of your
