The combination of an applied force and a friction force produces a constant total torque of 36.0 N,m on a wheel rotating about

a fixed axis. The applied force acts for 6.00 s. During this time the angular speed of the wheel increases from 0 to 10.0 rad/s. The applied force is then removed, and the wheel comes to rest in 60.0 s. Find (a) the moment of inertia of the wheel, (b) the magnitude of the frictional torque, and (c) the total number of revolutions of the wheel.

Answer:

Part a)

I = 21.6 kg m^2

Part b)

\tau_f= -3.6 Nm

Part c)

N = 52.5 rev

Explanation:

As we know that the net torque on the wheel is given as

\tau = 36 Nm

now we know that its angular speed changes from 0 to 10 rad/s in time interval of 6.00 s

so we have

\alpha = \frac{10 - 0}{6} = \frac{5}{3} rad/s^2

Part a)

We know that the relation between torque and angular acceleration is given as

\tau = I\alpha

36 = I(\frac{5}{3})

I = 21.6 kg m^2

Part b)

Now the angular speed will reduce to zero after removing external torque in t = 60 s

now we have

\alpha = \frac{0 - 10}{60} = -\frac{1}{6}

so frictional torque is given as

\tau_f = I\alpha

\tau_f = (21.6)(-\frac{1}{6}) = -3.6 Nm

Part c)

Number of revolutions are given by the equation

N = \frac{0 + \omega}{4\pi}t_1 + \frac{\omega + 0}{4\pi}t_2

N = \frac{10}{4\pi}6 + \frac{10}{4\pi}60 = 52.5 rev

In the fabrication of an electrical extension cord, the manufacturer wants to reduce the overall resistance of the wires in the
Bezzdna [24]

Answer:

Option B is correct.

Explanation:

The resistance of a material or wire is represented by the formula below.

R=(ρL)/A

where

  • R is resistance of wire
  • ρ is the resistivity of the material
  • A is the cross sectional area of wire
  • L is length of wire

Resistance increases with increase in length and resistivity which means options C and D are wrong.

A=(πd^{2})/4

An increase in diameter will result in a proportional increase in area

From the resistance formula, an increase in area will cause a reduction in the resistance of the material.Thus increased diameter of wire will lower the resistance of wire. Option B is correct

In physics, the use of force to move an object is called what
valentina_108 [34]

Answer: work

Explanation:

Often in physics, work is defined as the use of force to move an object. Technically, work is actually a change in energy caused by a force external to the system. The formula for work is W = F⊥d or W = FdcosΘ. Using this formula, we can see that work is just when a force is applied for a certain displacement. In simpler terms, that's just a force used to move an object a certain distance.

You are bungee jumping from a bridge. Initially, while you are falling the slack bungee cord isn’t exerting any forces or torque
harina [27]

Answer:

he fall movement we see that both the force is different from zero, and the torque is different from zero.

When analyzing the statements the d is true

Explanation:

Let's pose the solution of this problem, to be able to analyze the firm affirmations.

When the person is falling, the weight acts on them all the time, initially the rope has no force, but at the moment it begins to lash it exerts a force towards the top that is proportional to the lengthening of the rope.

The equation for this part is

                 Fe - W = m a

                 k x - mg = m a

As the axis of rotation is located at the top where they jump, there is a torque.

What is it

                Fe y - W y = I α

angular and linear acceleration are related

       a = α r

       Fe y - W y = I a / r

In the fall movement we see that both the force is different from zero, and the torque is different from zero.

When analyzing the statements the d is true
