A 26.0 kg beam is attached to a wall with a hinge while its far end is supported by a cable such that the beam is horizontal. If

the angle between the beam and the cable is θ = 61.0° what is the vertical component of the force exerted by the hinge on the beam?

Answer:

Force exerted by the hinge on the beam = 109.24N

Explanation:

Weight = mg = 26 x 9.81 = 255.06 N

Vertical component = T sin θ

Horizontal component = Tcos θ

Now, there are 3 vertical forces acting on the beam. These are;

- The downward force which is the weight of the beam.

- The vertical components of the tension in the cable.

-The force that hinge exerts on the beam are the upward forces.

Hence, for the beam to remain horizontal, the sum of the upward forces must be equal to the weight of the beam.

For us to determine the vertical component of the tension in the cable, we will do a torque problem. Let the pivot point be at the hinge. Let’s assume that the length of the beam is L. The vertical component of the tension in the cable will produce clockwise torque while the weight of the beam will produce counter clockwise torque.

Tbus;

Clockwise torque = TL sin 61

Since the center of mass of beam is at the middle of the beam, the distance from the hinge to the weight of the beam is L/2.

Counter clockwise torque = WL/2

Thus;

TL sin 61 = WL/2

L will cancel out.

T sin 61 = 255.06/2

T x 0.8746 = 127.53

T = 127.53/0.8746 = 145.82 N

Now, the equation to determine the vertical component of the force that the hinge exerts on the beam is given as;

T + F = W

Thus;

145.82 + F = 255.06

F = 255.06 - 145.82 = 109.24 N

In order to make things easier to describe and explain, let's call
the resistance of each bulb 'R', and the battery voltage 'V'.

a).  In series, the total resistance is 3R.
In parallel, the total resistance is R/3.
Changing from series to parallel, the total resistance of the circuit
decreases to 1/9 of its original value.

b).  In series, the total current is  V / (3R) .
In parallel, the total current is  3V / R .
Changing from series to parallel, the total current in the circuit
increases to 9 times its original value.

c).  In series, the power dissipated by the circuit is

                                   (V) · V/3R  =  V² / 3R .

In parallel, the power dissipated by the circuit is

                                   (V) · 3V/R  =  3V² / R .

Changing from series to parallel, the power dissipated by
the circuit (also the power delivered by the battery) increases
to 9 times its original value.

A typical incandescent light bulb consumes 75 W of power and has a mass of 30 g. You want to save electrical energy by dropping
nadya68 [22]

Answer:

The height will be 917431.2 m.

Explanation:

Power of bulb = 75 W

Time kept on 1 hr = 60 x 60 = 3600 sec

Energy of bulb = power x time

E = 75 x 3600 = 270000 J

From conservation of energy, kinetic energy of the bulb is equal to the potential energy of the bulb due to its height of fall.

Potential energy = m x g x h

Where g = acceleration due to gravity 9.81 m/s2

m = mass = 30 g = 0.03 kg

PE = 0.03 x 9.81 x h = 0.2943h

Equating withe the energy of bulb (still obeying energy conservation)

270000 = 0.2943h

h = 270000/0.2943 = 917431.2 m

Where do you weight more on top of Mt. Everest (Highest Mt. in the world) or at the beach
insens350 [35]

You weigh slightly more at the beach than on top of a mountain, because at the beach, you're closer to the center of the Earth.

What can you do to mitigate these risks?
andrey2020 [161]

Answer: your question is incomplete, however I want you to know that there are four ways to mitigate a risk, these are:

avoid, accept, reduce/control, or transfer. Whatever the risk in your question is, it will definitely fit into any of the aforemened risk strategies.

Quel est le gaz présent dans la couche d’ozone
stepan [7]

Answer:

L'ozone est produit à partir du dioxygène, composé de deux atomes d'oxygène(O2). Aux altitudes supérieures à 30 km, le rayonnement solaire possède encore une énergie suffisante pour casser une partie des molécules de dioxygène et libérer les atomes
