Starting from a pillar, you run 200 m east (the + x-direction) at an average speed of 5.0 m/s and then run 280 m west at an aver

age speed of 4.0 m/s to a post. Calculate (a) your average speed from pillar to post and (b) your average velocity from pillar to post.

Answer:

Total time taken=110 seconds

Total distance traveled=480m

Explanation:

First of all, we find the total time taken:

For that, we use the formula : Distance/Speed= Time

Time for part 1 : 200/5=40 seconds

Time for part 2 : 280/4=70seconds

Total time taken=110 seconds

Total distance traveled=480m

Average Speed= 480/110=4.36 m/s

Total displacement=200-280=-80m (Since this is displacement, we need to find the distance between the initial and final point. Also, I've taken east direction as positive and west as negative)

Average Velocity=-80/110=-0.72 m/s

OR 0.72m/s towards west.

The formula $F = \frac{9}{5} C + 32$ can be used to convert temperatures between degrees Fahrenheit ($F$) and degrees Celsius ($
slamgirl [31]

Answer:

-30° C

Explanation:

Data provided in the problem:

The formula for conversion as:

F  = (9/5)C + 32

Now,

for the values of F = -22 , C = ?

Substituting the value of F in the above formula, we get

-22 = (9/5)C + 32

or

-22 - 32 = (9/5)C

or

(9/5)C = - 54

or

C = - 54 × (5/9)

or

C = - 30 °

Hence, -22 Fahrenheit equals to -30°C

A viscous fluid is flowing through two horizontal pipes. They have the same length, although the radius of one pipe is three tim
Rudik [331]

The conservation of the mass of fluid through two sections (be they A1 and A2) of a conduit (pipe) or current tube establishes that the mass that enters is equal to the mass that exits. Mathematically the input flow must be the same as the output flow,

Q_1 = Q_2

The definition of flow is given by

Q =VA

Where

V = Velocity

A = Area

The units of the flow of flow are cubic meters per second, that is to say that if there is a continuity, the volume of input must be the same as that of output, what changes if the sections are modified are the proportions of speed.

In this way

Q_A = Q_B

Q_B = 2.94*10^2 m^3/s

IgorLugansk [536]

Power = Work done/Time taken

So, keeping this in mind,we can solve it as follows:

= 700/3.1

= 7000/31

= 225.80 W
