Hey there!

1 mole of K3PO4 (aq) gives 3 moles of K⁺ ions , and 1 mole of PO₄³⁻ ion

So:

K3PO4(aq) ⇌ 3 K⁺(aq) + PO₄³⁻(aq)

There are 4 moles of ions , when 2 moles of K3PO4(aq) is dissolved in water.

6 moles of K⁺ + 2 moles of PO₄³⁻ ions are formed !

There are total 8 moles of ions .

Hope that helps!

Answer: 8 moles of ions are produced when K_3PO_4 is dissolved in water.

Explanation: When K_3PO_4 is dissolved in water, ionization reaction takes place. The reaction follows:

K_3PO_4(aq.)\rightarrow 3K^+(aq.)+PO_4^{3-}(aq.)

By stoichiometry,

1 mole of K_3PO_4 produces 3 moles of K^+ and 1 mole of PO_4^{3-}

So, 2 moles of K_3PO_4 will produce (2 ×3) = 6 moles of K^+ and (2 × 1) = 2 moles of PO_4^{3-}

Hence, total moles of ions produced = ( 6 + 2 ) = 8 moles of ions.

The decomposition of ozone in the upper atmosphere to dioxygen occurs by a two-step mechanism.The first step is a fast reversibl
alex41 [277]

Answer: Step 2 in the given mechanism is the rate determining step

Explanation:

In a mechanism of the reaction, the slow step in the mechanism determines the rate of the reaction.

The intermediate reaction of the mechanism follows:

Step 1: O_3(g)\rightleftharpoons O_2(g)+O(g);\text{ (fast)}

Step 2: O_3(g)+O(g)\rightarrow 2O_2(g);\text{(slow)}

As, step 2 is the slow step. It is the rate determining step

Rate law for the reaction follows:

\text{Rate}=k[O_3][O]

Hence, step 2 in the given mechanism is the rate determining step

Which of the following are held together by nonpolar covalent bonds? PLEASE HELP
steposvetlana [31]

Answer:

The atoms of chlorine are held together by non-polar covalent bonds. Covalent bonds are formed between two or more atoms having zero or very small electronegativity difference. For homonuclear molecules where the two bonding atom are of the same kind, the electronegativity difference is zero.

C. Atoms of chlorine (CI)

Describe the transmission of sound through solids,liquids,and gases.
I am Lyosha [343]
Sound waves need to travel through a medium such as solids, liquids and gases. The sound waves move through each of these mediums by vibrating the molecules in the matter. ... This enables sound to travel much faster through a solid than a gas. Sound travels about four times faster and farther in water than it does in air.

Sounds can travel at approximately 6000 metres per second in some solids and at a quarter of this speed in water. This is because the molecules of solids are more tightly packed together than in liquids and those in liquids are more tightly packed than in gases.

A sample contains 16. 75 g of the radioisotope U-236 and 50. 25 g of its daughter isotope, Th-232. How long did it take for deca
garri49 [273]

The time taken for the isotope to decay is 46 million years.

We'll begin by calculating the number of half-lives that has elapsed. This can be obtained as follow:

 • Original amount (N₀) = 50.25 g
 • Amount remaining (N) = 16.75
 • Number of half-lives (n) =?

2ⁿ = N₀ / N

2ⁿ = N₀ / N

2ⁿ = 50.25 / 16.75

2ⁿ = 3

Take the log of both side

Log 2ⁿ = 3

nLog 2 = Log 3

Divide both side by log 2

n = Log 3 / Log 2

n = 2

Finally, we shall determine the time.

 • Half-life (t½) = 23 million years
 • Number of half-lives (n) = 2
 • Time (t) =?

t = n × t½

t = 2 × 23

t = 46 million years
