Answer:

Group 5A

Explanation:

 • Elements in the periodic table are arranged into columns known as groups and rows known as periods.
 • Elements in the same group share similar chemical properties.
 • For example, elements in group 5A have five valence electrons with the most high energy level with a configuration of s²p³.
 • Elements in group 5A include nitrogen and phosphorus among others.

Consider the following isotopic abundance data for argon (Ar) and silicon (Si):
pshichka [43]

Answer:

Explanation:

Molar mass of Argon

= 35.96755 x .00337 + 37.96272 x .00063 + 39.96240 x .99600

= .12121 + .0239165 + 39.80255

= 39.95

Molar mass of silicon

27.97693 x .9223 + 28.97649 x .0467 + 29.97376 x .0310

= 25.803 + 1.35320 + .929

= 28.08

b )

No of atoms of Si in 78.2 g = 78.2 x 6.02 x 10²³ / 28.08

= 16.76 x 10²³ .

c )

42 Ar / 40 Ar = 1.05006

42 Ar / 39.95 = 1.05006

42Ar = 41.95

2 )

C₁₆H₁₅F₂N₃O₄S

Mol weight = 16 x 12 + 1 x 15 + 2 x 19 + 3 x 14 + 4 x 16 + 32

= 192 + 15 + 38 + 42 + 64+ 32

= 383

No of molecules = .078 x 6.02 x 10²³ / 383

= 1.226 x 10²⁰ molecules .

Does potassium nitrate (KN03) incorporate ionic bonding, covalent bonding, or both? Explain.
ladessa [460]

Answer: KNO_3 incorporates both ionic bonding and covalent bonding.

Explanation:

A covalent bond is formed when an element shares its valence electron with another element. This bond is formed between two non metals.

An ionic bond is formed when an element completely transfers its valence electron to another element. The element which donates the electron is known as electropositive element and the element which accepts the electrons is known as electronegative element. This bond is formed between a metal and an non-metal.

For formation of a neutral ionic compound, the charges on cation and anion must be balanced. The cation is formed by loss of electrons by metals and anions are formed by gain of electrons by non metals.

Here potassium is having an oxidation state of +1 called as K^{+} cation and nitrate NO_3^{-} is an anion with oxidation state of -1. Thus they combine and their oxidation states are exchanged and written in simplest whole number ratios to give neutral KNO_3. NO_3^- is formed by sharing of electrons between two non metals nitrogen and oxygen.

Thus KNO_3 incorporates both ionic bonding and covalent bonding.

DIRECTION: Supply the missing information about the scientist listed in the graphic
e-lub [12.9K]

Answer:

The missing information or their role in the discovery of the cell is as follows:

Robert Hooke: He was the first scientist to called cells to tiny box-like cavities he saw in cork and illustrated as cells.

A. Leeuwenhoek: he was a microscopist and microbiologist who used microscopes and observed many other living cells. He called animalcules to these single-cell living organisms later used to prove that cells are the fundamental unit of life.

Schwann and Schleiden: They presented the theory that suggested that the cells are basic building blocks of all living things.

Virchow: He observed that the cell dividing and come from pre-existing cells.
