Why are buffers important to living things ?

Chemistry

Answer:Living systems are very sensitive to pH changes.  Your blood, for example, has a pH of about 7.4.  A rise or drop greater than 0.05 would require hospitalization (alkalosis and acidosis respectively).  A rise or drop of 0.2 is fatal.  If it weren't for the blood-buffering system, then swings this high and greater would be easy to accomplish and maintaining a living system would essentially be impossible.

I hope I answer your question.

or the solution containing Zn2+(aq), n is 2, so the MM/n ratio will be the molar mass of Zn divided by 2: MM/n = (65.39 g/mol) /
yKpoI14uk [10]

Answer:

MM/n will be less than the theoretical value

Explanation:

Provided that

The plating efficiency is proportional to the element weight

i.e.

\frac{Zn^2}{(aq)}

That represents \frac{MM}{n\ value}

So,

MM by N value is

= 65.39 g /mol ÷ 2

= 32.70 g/mol

Also, the experimental plating value is 0.55 that represents that it is much lesser than the normal value

So it would be concluded that the MM by N would be lower than the theoretical value

What is the density of a substance with a mass of 37.5 g and a volume of 20L?
ra1l [238]

Answer:

<h2>1.88 g/L</h2>

Explanation:

The density of a substance can be found by using the formula

density =  \frac{mass}{volume} \\

From the question we have

density =  \frac{37.5}{20}  =  \frac{15}{8}  \\  = 1.875

We have the final answer as

<h3>1.88 g/L</h3>

Hope this helps you

Which of the following functional groups acts most like an acid in water? A) carboxyl B) amino C) carbonyl D) hydroxyl.
Anestetic [448]

Answer : A - carboxyl group.

The carbon in the carboxyl group is bonded to a hydroxyl group and also it is double bonded to an oxygen group.

The carboxyl group when it is dissolved in a solution donates it's hydrogen ion(H+ ion). When it is dissolved in water, the carboxyl group loses its H+ ion to form negatively charged ion.

RCOOH + H2O⇄RCOO- + H3O+

Thus the carboxyl group act as an acid when dissolved in water.

What orbital do the transition metals finish their electron configuration in
PIT_PIT [208]

Answer:

d orbitals

Explanation:

Transition  metals are generally known as d-block elements. The electronic configuration of all transition elements finish in a d-orbital weather they are first row, second row or third row transition elements. This is the thread that holds all the elements of the transition series together.

This is why elements of the transition series are generally called the d-block elements.
