The equation to be used to calculate the heat required to vaporize 1 gram of water at 100 degrees eclsius and 1 atmosphere is the enthalpy. It is represented as H = mCpT where H is the heat released after phase change, m is the mass of the substance, Cp is the specific heat capacity of the substance and T is the change in temperature.

H = mCpT

H = (1g/1000g/kg)(4.184kJ/kg-K)(100 - 20)

H = 0.335 kJ

A scientist wants to react a barium chloride salt with an acid. to speed up the reaction, the scientist crushes the barium chlor
In-s [12.5K]

Out of the following given choices;

A. increasing the pH of the salt.

B. increasing the surface area of the salt.

C. increasing the pressure of the salt.

D. increasing the temperature of the salt.

The answer is B. When a substance is reduced to smaller sizes, its surface area to volume ratio increases. Therefore crushing barium salts to smaller particles increase the surface area on which it reacts with the acid. This consequently increases the rate of speed of the reaction.

How does the name of CaS
differ from the name of CdS?
lutik1710 [3]

The names of the compounds differ by the type of metal present in them, which are Calcium (Ca) and Cadmium (Cd)

From the question,

We are to determine the how the name of CaS differ from the name of CdS

First, we will determine the identities of the elements in the given compounds

 • For CaS

Ca represents calcium

and

S represents sulfur

∴ The compound is named Calcium sulfide

 • For CdS

Cd represents the element Cadmium

and

S represent the element Sulfur

∴ The compound is named Cadmium sulfide

Hence, the names of the compounds differ by the type of metal present in them, which are Calcium (Ca) and Cadmium (Cd)

alexgriva [62]

Answer:

stratosphere - The stratosphere is a layer of Earth's atmosphere. It is the second layer of the atmosphere as you go upward.

mesosphere - The mesosphere is a layer of Earth's atmosphere. The mesosphere is directly above the stratosphere and below the thermosphere

thermosphere - The thermosphere is a layer of Earth's atmosphere. The thermosphere is directly above the mesosphere and below the exosphere.

What is the mass of 99.0 L of NO2 at STP?
vekshin1

Mass of NO₂= 203.32 g

Further explanation

Given

99.0 L of NO₂

Required

Mass of NO₂

Solution

Conditions at T 0 ° C and P 1 atm are stated by STP (Standard Temperature and Pressure). At STP, Vm is 22.4 liters / mol.

So mol NO₂ :

= 99 : 22.4

= 4.42

Mass :

= mol x MW

= 4.42 x 46 g/mol

= 203.32 g
