Describe what the Sim evidence shows you about attraction. Remember to use the words attraction, freedom of movement, kinetic en
Nataly_w [17]

During change of phase, the molecules of a substance acquire enough kinetic energy to overcome the forces of attraction between its molecules.

What is change of phase?

Change of phase occurs when a substance acquires enough energy to overcome the forces of attraction between its molecules to transition from one state of matter to another.

During a change of phase, kinetic energy of the molecules of the substance increases due to the application of heat, and the freedom of movement of the molecules increases.

Change of phase can occur as follows;

 • from solid to liquid and vice versa
 • from solid to gas and vice versa
 • from liquid to gas and vice versa

Therefore, during change of phase, the molecules of a substance acquires enough kinetic energy to overcome the forces of attraction between its molecules leading to increased freedom of movement of the molecules.

Which of the following best demonstrates the effect of static friction? A. A person pushing a couch and it slowly sliding across
Gala2k [10]

Answer: D. A person pushing a couch without being able to move it.

Explanation:

The reason why is because static friction is where it prevents surfaces from sliding past each other, the static friction strength changes to match the applied force. If someone was to increase their force the static friction would still prevent the object from moving....

as in what the person above me said that goes towards sliding friction because if you were trying to push something with static friction if you have more than one person applying force then you would be able to move the object but with only having one the static friction would be greater then the applied force.

A single atom of platinum has a mass of 3.25 x 10^-22 g. What is the mass of 6.0 x 10^23 platinum atoms?
Serga [27]
The answer is 1.95 × 10² g

1 atom = 3.25 × 10⁻²² g
6.0 × 10²³ atoms = x g

1 atom : 3.25 × 10⁻²² g = 6.0 × 10²³ atom : x
x = 3.25 × 10⁻²² g × 6.0 × 10²³ atom : 1 atom
x = 3.25 × 6 × 10²³⁻²² g
x = 19.5 × 10 g
x = 1.95 × 10 × 10 g
x = 1.95 × 10² g
