Light bulb 1 operates with a filament temperature of 3000 K, whereas light bulb 2 has a filament temperature of 2000 K. Both fil

Answer:

A₁/A₂ = 0.44

Explanation:

The emissive power of the bulb is given by the formula:

P = σεAT⁴

where,

P = Emissive Power

σ = Stefan-Boltzman constant

ε = Emissivity

A = Surface Area

T = Absolute Temperature of Surface

<u>FOR BULB 1:</u>

Since, emissivity and emissive power are constant.

Therefore,

P = σεA₁T₁⁴   ----------- equation 1

where,

A₁ = Surface Area of Bulb 1

T₁ = Temperature of Bulb 1 = 3000 k

<u>FOR BULB 2:</u>

Since, emissivity and emissive power are constant.

Therefore,

P = σεA₂T₂⁴   ----------- equation 2

where,

A₂ = Surface Area of Bulb 2

T₂ = Temperature of Bulb 1 = 2000 k

Dividing equation 1 by equation 2, we get:

P/P = σεA₁T₁⁴/σεA₂T₂⁴

1 = A₁(3000)²/A₂(2000)²

A₁/A₂ = (2000)²/(3000)²

<u>A₁/A₂ = 0.44</u>

Given that the acceleration of gravity at the surface of Mars is0.38 of what it is one Earth, and that Mars' radius is 3400 km,d
evablogger [386]

Answer:

1.156\times 10^{24}\ kg

Explanation:

Given:

Gravity of Mars = 0.38 times the gravity at Earth

Gravity of Earth is, g_{Earth}=9.8\ m/s^2

Radius of Mars (R) = 3400 km

Mass of mars (M) = ?

We know that, the acceleration due to gravity  of a planet of mass 'M' and radius 'R' is given as:

g=\dfrac{GM}{R^2}

Now, as per question:

g_{Mars}=0.68g_{Earth}

Plug in 9.8 for g_{Earth} and solve for g_{Mars}. This gives,

g_{Mars}=0.68\times 9.8=6.67\ m/s^2

Now, plug in this value in the above equation and solve for 'M'. This gives,

6.67=\frac{6.67\times 10^{-11}M}{(3400\times 10^3)^2}\\\\1.156\times 10^{13}=10^{-11}M\\\\M=\frac{1.156\times 10^{13}}{10^{-11}}\\\\M=1.156\times 10^{24}\ kg

Therefore, the mass of Mars is 1.156\times 10^{24}\ kg.
